There doesn't have to be more shaders if ATI optimized* them.

1050/1175 on stock?? Holy cr*p!Quote:
The first of these changes is that the chip has been given a tune-up to tighten the clock loops and enhance the power distribution. The second change is that the chip can now operate on two distinct power planes; one for the 3D core and one for the memory controller. This provides for greater control of the voltages and allows the chip to run closer to its optimal range. The dual power plane design also means that there is a higher potential top-end frequency and lower idle power consumption, since there is more voltage control over the different parts of the ASIC.
As a result, overclocking potential is off the charts. Reports have been flooding the net about this chip running at and in excess of 1GHz; a feat never before achieved with reference cooling solutions. Couple this with the fact that the memory can also be overclocked near 1.2GHz, and you have a very enthusiast-oriented card that should outperform even the most expensive competing products - and that’s not even the best part. According to our sources, you don’t need to go out and buy a factory-overclocked card to be able to reach 1GHz; mostly all cards based on the reference ATI design should be able to hit this milestone. Sweet.
lol this is just a retail card
i am not one of the lucky few that get free gfx cards
:shrug:
The EWIZ just stock them for retail sale. Check it out for price.
Who has the right? about launch date? - OBR :rofl: .. like always ...
Lastly, the launch date for the card, previously reported to be April 6th or April 9th, now appears to be April 2nd. This places it’s release a few important days ahead of NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 275 (April 6th).
hehehe

$243.
P.S. Isn't this card just a Overclocked 4870?
To me the RV740 (HD4770) release seems more interesting.
Nevermind what I said above. I just saw this. Apparently these will do over 1 GHz due to other various changes.
Does this card use two 6 pin PCI-E power connectors or one 6 pin/one 8 pin?
2 6-pin as reference supposedly, with some AIB's opting for 1x6 and 1x8 probably for more headroom
Does xfx still warranty ATI cards for overclocking? Mmmm yum
I wish the NDA's will be lifted already so many rumors so confusing
damn they got it right. cool.
Can't wait to see this on LN2 :shocked:
seems like information comes here up north little bit delayed,
Wizzard has just published 0.3.3 version of GPU-Z:
* Added support for RV740 (HD 4750, HD 4770) and RV790 (HD 4890)
* Fixed G98 shader count
* Fixed GT200 process size calculation
* Added support for GTX 275

OMG they are out for sale now... MUST resist urge..... I already have 3 in my cart at ewiz...... MUST resist
what's with the NDA, i was told 9th, but the cards are selling today ?
Well, it's not the first time this has happened.

The Sapphire is even cheaper at $238
Hexus.net has some 3DMark numbers up.

Sorry if it is a repost.
does anyone know what FC waterblocks will work with this? or if the length of the 4 center holes is the same as older cards so i can tell what simple waterblocks will fit?
