i apologize for my rant about nvidias faq then...
it seems they really did a good job and fixed almost all of the corruption issues, at least at the common speeds.
finding the random, hard to repeat problems is a real btch...
i hope nvidia doesnt give up and keeps working on it, if they can iron out those problems 790 or a chipset refresh might go into the books as the best ddr3 chipset before it all went IMC

Seriously 703 hasn't fixed anything it just changes the corruption problem, I hate Nvidia right now I am very frustrated it's not okay to charge $450.00 for a board that doesn't work right.. 703 most definitely has not fixed 95% of the problems it just patched some BS and after running it for awhile it's back WTH!!! In all fairness this is tragic I am so dissapointed this has been going on for months and the issues are not resolved.. I thought I had it but then my friend couldn't get his board stable so I tried sfc scan again and now I have corruption all over the place... Not COOL!!! Nvidia really needs to get their sh** together before releasing these boards, bottom line.... Boo Nvidia Boo...
So wait, right now they are working on this corruptions, but what about people who are not getting corruptions but are getting hard times OCing? IMO, like you said this might be VTT/GTLRef related so hopefully with the corruption solved, OCing might get somewhat easier.Quote:

My only problem here is P1 and P2 which causes random freezes when enabled. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after 3 hours, some times after 14 HOURS.

Do you think that corruption might be the result of any previous OC failure? Like before you got your system estable, there might have been corrupted data left... Im just saying what I think might have happened.

I dont know why everytime I run sfc /scannow I dont get the results, I just get the pop up window saying it needs windows XP SP2 cd, then I click retry until it finishes but when it finishes I see nothing else but what I wrote on the command prompt, nothing about the results so I cant verify if I have some kind of corruption!
Are you running your OCZ at 1600? Because 1800 gives me a lot of trouble, heck, I cant even boot at 1800, I have to go straight to 1880 because of divider problem LOL!!! (this is with 0701, havent tried 1800RAM yet with 0703).

I just bought this Scythe 40mmx10mm fan from Performance-Pcs (because they are in FL so I get it faster via USPS) which you can also get from Newegg just to see if the high temps (60c) in my NB are the problems of all my problems. Since I have given my PC no rest time since I built it, the NB heatsink BURNS when you touch it after shutdown (which makes me think is the cause of failure after 14 hours?) so I just bought this mini-fan and Im planning to just put it there (screwing one screw and keep it in place by making small pressure with the first ram stick, videocard and water block pipe, yeah I know this sounds weird but thats the only way to keep the fan on the NB) and then test to see if the NB is the cause of my problems.
I remember one guy had so much OCing problems with the first striker than when he changed the stock pipes and everything, he went from 450Mhz to 475Mhz FSB easily so Im guessing this might help me out. Also, if you notice on Benchz profile picture, he has a 80mm fan on top of the NB so that might be helping him too? Who knows...
Let me know how it goes, it would be interesting if it solved alot of the systems freezes.Quote:

Have you tried tweaking the GTLs? In my experience VTT of 1.30 will normally support yorkfield at 450 on this board. Even fsb up to 475-480 shouldn't require more than 1.40.Quote:

hey dinos and bingo, i suspect the boards play an important role in this and some boards are simply better than others, as having a wider tolerance range for vtt etc.
could you guys maybe check with nvidia or asus if they are interested in testing those boards themselves?
looking at this from nvidias perspective it must be hard for them too, if it really depends on the boards and each board acts different.
they might as well be looking for a board that causes problems, but all their boards work fine.
what they need to really fix this issue is to have a known bad board and causes problems, repeatedly, so they can reproduce the problems and then fix them.
it could also have to do with the cpus of the people who still have problems having an rather unusual skewed or slim vtt window...
so ideally nvidia or asus should ask them to send in their boards with cpu.
then again, giving away the board plus cpu might be a bit much to ask from theese guys here, but im sure they would be willing to cooperate if nvidia or asus approaches them, and im sure they can find some solution of maybe sending them a new board and cpu or something.
I would totally be willing to send in my components for testing (give replacements are sent to me). If you guys set this up, consider me volounteer #1!
So the corruption is fixed only on the reference boards????? i see SEII is still having problems.....can anyone confirm P05 has fixed the corruption issue with the 790i.
Now I have to say I have done nothing but reset the CMOS and leave out the battery for a number of hours and re did my OC same exact settings as before and now I can't recreate the corruption.. So now I do not have corruption but this is still retarded.. Maybe next week I will again?? I have no idea what is going with this board but it can't be good.. One minute I am rock solid cruising along the next I can't pass sfc scan.. Now I am rock solid with the same settings as before this makes no sense at all.. One minute I have corruption the next I don't no fun.. I am soo confused this makes no sense, but what are you gonna do??? I am considering sending back my board what do you think??

1st set of hard drives failed in Raid 0, sent back for RMA.
2nd set New Hitachi Deskstar 160GB x 2 Raid 0, nothing but problems installing windows vista ect.
Noted problems,
Corruption
BSOD
Freezing
9800GX2 Driver Has Recovered, could only use v174.74
SP1 would fail sometimes
Windows Updates sometimes fail
SoundMax Crackling
Video Corruption sometimes
Random Restarts
You could hear the drives turn off or make a clicking noize & in a short time things above would happen.
All these problems are related to hard drives & corruption.
3rd set new 80GB seagate drives x 2 Raid 0
Can you say 0 problems?
How can all the problems above just go away?
Nothing has changed at all in bios, same settings.
I don't care what anyone says about this, all the problems are gone after I installed 2 new drives.
Just for the fun of it I reinstalled IBM drives & guess what, system went for a crap again.
Removed them & installed seagates no problems.
Guys read my last post on the nForce 790i thread... ;)
