These sudden reboots during Prime or CPUBurn load are classic vCore droop symptoms. Even though the P5W DH has a very good VRM, the vCore still bounces around as the CPU suddenly changes its current draw when programs enter/exit various loops. Usually higher vCore makes this go away, but there is a limit for each chip, and it sounds to me like you've found yours...

Temperature isn't really a factor until the core temperature gets up into the 70s. But as you increase vCore, you're increasing power consumption as the square of the voltage, so it goes up pretty fast.

Is asus pc probe still spiking temps up to 256'c setting off the alarm in the new 1305 bios?

I just got an E6600 and a P5W DH Deluxe. Using a 2gig OCZ PC6400 kit.

Xfi, the basic edition and an X1900XT.

My settings are stock, but I am getting random reboots. Windows installed and updated fine but about every 30 mins or so my comp will just reboot, as if I hit the reset switch. Its, obviously, driving me bat :banana::banana::banana::banana: crazy. Temps seem fine, the power supply is a brand new PC Power and Cooling Silent 750.

Any ideas?

Olaf, try checking the front panel connectors (specifically power and reset) as you might have a bad button, also try changing the ram settings (set it at 1:1 and see how that runs for a while) some people have been having issues with OCZ's pc6400.

Seriously, are you referring to usb storage devices, or human interface devices like a mouse or keyboard?

I'm wondering a few things... First: I can't seem to OC past 3.25, could this be a cheap memory thing?

And, What on EARTH is Hyper Path 3 and does it make any difference AND is there a way to leave it on when you push FSB past 300?

Wow interesting testing today. I decided to raise the vcore to 1.625 and it actually ran SP 1M @ 424 x 9! It seems that all it needed was more power. Although this is not for 24/7 use but I was happy to break that 420 wall.

i was wondering how do you lower your multiplier on the p5w-dh-d? or can i only use the 9x multiplier?

sorry for the noob question. tried searching but i couldnt find a good answer help pls

Set vmch to 1.65v, and drop your memory to lowest speed divider, and if 3.25 is still your limit then it is likely the limit of the motherboard - I have a wall of FSB around 425.

Forget Hyperpath 3 - too tired to regurgitate what I heard in detail, but it is a overclock for use at stock speeds, but will hold you back if you do OC.

I am about to purchase this motherboard, and I would greatly appreciate if I can get some advice on what problems to expect with this board. Following is a list of my parts I will be using. The only thing which I already bought is the Video Card, besides that if you think of better parts then what I chose please let me know.

My USB k/board disapears sometimes at very high OC's, try raising Vich (SB) to 1.20v, it helps me :)

haah, its more then enough man, i have lurked around for a long time already but i am just being really paranoid and wanted one of you experts to look at my list and tell me if its ok.

I absolutely did not mean to be offensive, I know that some of you guys know a lot more then me and have more experience with this board thus if a part in my list is incompatibale i could recieve a suggestion for a better part.

Stay clear of this board and wait for a good Nvidia 590 SLI board.

I would go the DFI route or ABIT if i were you.

Asus seem to be lacking on with thier boards lately. I think its because they are more concerned about getting products out fast than getting good products out.

got the same problem as you with same board and same cpu, cannot go over 400fsb stable with 1.4vcore
