when you flashed the bios from F1 to F3, did you update for the F3 instantly, or flashed to F2 then F3 ?Quote:

you erase and re-flash the chip. So there is no problem going from a version to another.Quote:

What RAM should I buy for $200 or less to go on my DS3?
I was going to go with this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231073
( G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model F2-6400PHU2-2GBZX - Retail
)
But can anybody confirm if this will work?
I want a silent pc, im trying to get rid of fans not add any more!! (crosses out ds3 off mobo list)
Spend a bit extra and get this:Quote:

my ds3 arrived today, first time the E6400 Step 5 run @ 400FSB (1.3v), but now it boot with max. 350FSB :( (not stable!)
the E6400 current run with 2.13Ghz @ 1.00v Vcore!
What memory are you using?Quote:

My other problem is that my marvelous:rolleyes: OCZ gold is not picking up the right timings. I have it set to 5-5-5-12 in the BIOS, but CPU-Z reads CAS as 3.0. I actually couldnt POST with the OCZ originally because the voltage was too low by default. I had to use my friend's mushkin to get into my BIOS and boost it by .2V... shoulda stuck with mushkin/corsair i think :-\
2x1GB Micron PC2-4200 ECC with D9DCN Chips. Tomorrow i get G.Skill PC2-6400U 2GBHZ :toast:Quote:

rite now i'm running my e6300 stepping 6 @ 2.65ghz (379x7) with all voltages are at default.. still testing, wanna do minimum 7 hrs of stressprime before i proceed to 2.7ghz :D
can everyone with c2d processor post ur voltage for processor, chipset & fsb to reach certain speed?
that will be a great help for newbie people like me :D thx!!
what are the clock differences with that RAM on DS3 and other board you have.....Asus :)Quote:

New system build with this mobo. The chipset does get very hot but no problems getting to 400FSB and then it drops back to 6x multi for me with F2 bios. I was not able to boot past 400 FSB and keep 9x
I will try out F3.
A serious need for dual GPU card on this rig.
i've got a small 80mm fan over the RAM and blows over the chipset as described before........Lestat was doubting it's effectiveness however it makes it run fairly cool
temp measured during load
21C ambient
35.5C chipset heatsink.....thermal probe on a few spots until warmest temp found........luke warm to touch.......so that's all you really need TT BT helps a bit too but the fan was only spinning at 650RPM
as described in my post a couple of pages back
