Thanks for bringing us this first look WWM!
Looking forward to you OCing benchmarks! :toast:
1m 13sec pi fallen ? your kidding right
jesus do you gentlemen live in a closet ?
the initial AM2 perofrmance tests have already been released and ther eis little to no gain in perfmance.
the AM2 is the exact same thing as the 939 only its DDR2 and skt 940.
its not a complete redone cpu people.. you'll be sitting quite a while waiting for any new AM2 cpu's to come out to compete against the conroe and merom. AMD has no plans to release any such cpu atleast according to their roadmap.
i hate to say this as I love amd all the way but this is a bull:banana::banana::banana::banana: move by amd and the only reason for it is to move into DDR2
there is no major performance when moving to AM2 and DDR2
the new 5000 series AM2 chip and one other has already been reviewed and the performance is nothing.
atleast thats what i took away from the review...............
Trust me you will see a big jump shortly enough for AMD..Quote:

AM2 is about catering to the OEM's and unifying thier desktop sockets, not so much about increasing performance, not at launch at least... Don't be so hasty to put it down, its got some scaling room remember?Quote:

Wether you buy Intel or AMD at one point or another you're gonna have to upgrade and more often than not for one reason or another it usually works out that for a major upgrade you end up practically gutting your computer anyways, so get over it or buy a PS3/X360 cuz' neither AMD or Intel has a real good track record with upgradability.Quote:
