Quick?
Look at the first post date:

And do you know why it took so long?Quote:

Its because I did some more testing using chips with heatspreaders. They cannot squeeze the excess TIM out as easily as a bare core usually can and therefore more was left between the heatsink and the IHS. It dried out, and temps went through the roof, whereas on my AMD they stayed the same even with it dry..
I'll stick with Radio Shack goop... works well enough on my rig!
To each, their own - and STEvil continues the quest for his own. You gotta love STEvil's passion for the quest... ;)
Heh... gonna switch out the PCM+ tomarrow for something else again.. the consistancy of the PCM+ got me to thinking..
now how about something that goes to -100F temperatures??
Thats easy.. in fact i'll run outside right now and check the stuff i've set out to cure for 24 hours...
EDIT
Your 2k1 score is making me drool while I wait for my 8RDA+... lol...
EDIT
Looks like all the glycol has evaporated from the stuff, should be safe for use in a puter now.. although I doubt this specific material would get much below -50c without the glycol.. 8-/
Why would you need something that goes to -100'F - are you doing cryogenic work?Quote:

err ever heard of the prometeia + phase change system? :DQuote:

Gee - you got me there. Of course I have, but the Prommie doesn't require a TIM that goes to -100'F. You'll have trouble finding any type of TIM that will function effectively at temps below - 80F. And if you do, it won't be inexpensive ;)
-70C perhaps is a bit too much.... may be they wanna use LN2/Dryice ?
dry ice:stick:Quote:

Ah, yes, dry ice - the next evolution of cooling...
In practice, dry ice gives a -50C cooling "head" with unloaded temps of -40ishC
:D

And this stuff performs better than Arctic 5?!
It did a couple times but subsequent testing proved getting it to seat is not very easy..
This is what I am playing around with now.. I actually sent a couple samples out to a couple people but havent heard anything back.

LoL, I see someones foot! :p:
Hows it workin so far?
Keep up the great tests. I'm willing to fight to the last drop of your blood. (hattip: Three Stooges).Quote:

Working very well so far.

What kind of temps? I am seriously tired of wasting $ on AS5.
a7n8x-dlx 2.0 1007 uber, 2500 mobile @ 12x200 1.75v with coolermaster Jet7 at lowest RPMs it will do: 41c average running seti@home.
nF7 rev2 3.19bpl mantaray XT modded by merlin, 2500 moble @ 2600 2.0v using a Dr.Thermal rip-off heatsink (Arkua something or other) and 50cfm 80mm strapped on top of it: 47c in the bios.
DFI Lanparty-UT (754) 10/15 4.0vdimm with OCZ memtest 1.0, CG 2800+ @ 2400mhz 1.75v and stock cooling: 45c Prime95 load (~24c ambient)
ambient is 20c
Not the most scientific work or exact measurements (darn diodes!) but it seems to be doing as well or better than anything on the market that I can tell.. plus it comes in large enough tubes it can double as socket insulation for going below 0 :D
EDIT
A64 was about 24c ambient IIRC.. sold that setup a while ago.
You blew it Stevil, you shoulda put this stuff into 3.5 gram tubes and sold it as Stevil's Super-Duper TIM Compound. Coulda made a fortune. :lol:Quote:

I like your socket insulation idea too. But how hard is this stuff to clean off? Silicone grease comes right off with contact cleaner.
