my theory is that if your on air the N chip will suit you more. I belive N chips run higher on less voltage. I also believe that when you hit a wall with the N chip on voltage it takes alot of volts to go higher. It is at this point where I see most premature N chip deaths. These tend to like very fine .01 to .025 voltage bumps. These also do well on phase if you want to run near stock volts at very high clocks. Great for a 24/7 rig.

And yes It's opposite with T chips i believe. Those are far suited better on very very high end water and phase. They tend to need more volts and larger voltage bumps etc instead of .01 to .025 they usually need .05 bumps to get to the next level and tend to be more resilient with high voltage. I have seen these die most when people try to burn in and run them at low volts.

LDBHE 0601TPMW - batch number 0190 is what I have. Would that be a T CPU? I'm not trying to burn it in I am undervolting at 2.6. Am I going to kill my CPU?

(I'm paranoid of killing this sweet CPU) :slapass:

Letter at the bottom-right corner of the PCB.

MUCHO look at the right corner of the wafer next to the IHS. You will see a letter T or N. this is the letter we are referring to.

Some evidence against your theory.

My X2 3800 CCBWE 0535 TPMW code N improves from 2350 stock volts to 2750 1.65v (2780 absolute wall for SP32M stability with ~1.7v). Currently at 2700 1.6v no IHS on water. Doing fine for the last 5 months or so.

I may be wrong, but I have the feeling that I've heard of cpu deaths with moderately low volts (much less than 1.65v) in the last couple of months. Maybe your theory only applies to newer cpus?

give that cpu more time and note that in order to break that wall you needed a huge voltage bump. Remember I also stated Pc's running 24/7. I'm not sure if yours is but mine are.

There's no voltage bump that make it pass 2780 on water.

It was running 24/7 with me, for 3 months. Now it's with my brother and it should work 6 hours/day on average

There is a wall. there always is. What you should do is say what volts were needed as you cranked the speed up. I'm sure at one point you needed quite a bump since your running at 1.65 from 1.35 default. the 2780 wall is most likely heat related also.

I don't see your point. It's usual that the marginal benefit of adding volts is smaller at higher speeds, i.e, the last Mhz cost more volts. Where is the noverlty here and how does that relate to the N or T code?

Well Like iv'e stated in other threads you'll never see my findings on air/water for the most part they are there but not as dramatic. Once you introduce phase into the equasion it becomes much more apparent. I'm sure your chip is not maxxed out and im sure if kept cold whether or not its bugged as temps can be controlled that i could take that chip quite a bit higher with less volts.

Hey guys, these 0601's look sweet.. I'm frustrated with these cold bugged opterons, and I'm seriously thinking about going to one of these strong manchesters..

Anyone know if the LDBHE 0603VPMW stepping is fairing as well as the 0601's?

Also, just wondering if the 4200's are doing any better than the 3800s? I find the 11x multi very convenient :)

This LDBHE 0601UPMW chip is clocking kinda odd IMO on the voltage side of things.
Dual prime @2700 on stock vcore easy as eating cotton candy at the state fair. Core-1 starts to fail at 2770 and even a bump to 1.45vcore wont cure it to run prime :confused:
Yet another core-1 dud...I'm 4 for 4 now that core-1 fails prime long before
core-0.
Hopefully under the MachI it'll do 3G and that will make for IMO nice chip for my game rig.

I would suggest you try to get the lowest week you can Etc 0601 and i would also suggest you go for either the 3800 or 4600 and shy away from 4200.

Nope it's an N
HAd a 4200 T but it was an 0541 and it took tons of volts for 2600Mhz

These new X2 3800+ are doing pretty darn good! Does anyone know anything about the LDBHE 0604CPMW? Are they doing as well as the 0601's?

Your experience is similar to my X2...can prime around 1.36-1.39V (voltage fluctuations on regulator). I can push it to 2950 if i'd like, but at 3.0GHz, i need to start cranking voltage up to like 1.55V, albeit this is on air. I even have my system with CnQ enabled now (see sig)! ;)

HOw high have you gone in OCing your x2?
