Good luck to u :toast:Quote:

i wouldnt worry to much.. if most of these boards where stinkers this thread would be about 100 miles long by now. I should have one arriving this morning, will let you know how it is. fingers crossed :D
Ummm...did you guys know this: (from the anadtech A8R32-MVP review, and I saw this discussed on one of the other reviews as well of this board)
""One word of caution: it appears that the RD580 chipset will not reset an HTT strap or ratio unless you first power down. We had seen this in other testing of the RD580 and it is also a reality on the Asus A8R32-MVP. For instance, if you try to set the ratio to 4X (from 5X), the board will not implement the ratio change until you have powered down the system. Thankfully, this will rarely be necessary with the high-speed HTT capabilities of the RD580, but please keep this in mind when adjusting HTT ratios.""
May or may not be related, only posting as information.
I can confirm this... they do have a point however that the high HTT limit on this board makes this sort of a non issue... I had mine up to 365 :eek:Quote:

Rodzilla, I too have this board on order. If I take your advice, I still need a board for my new X1900XTX. :(Quote:

Does this one fix the problems ;)
I would wait for the ABIT or DFI version of the RD580... I'm returning my ASUS as soon as they come out! They should be out very soon.Quote:

DOes anyone have a clue when the DFI board is set for release?? I honesltly can't wait to get rid of this POS ASUS board.
NICE nics with teaming. I've been wondering when that would make it to the desktop.
Rodzilla-
Do ya think this board can be fixed with bios updates? Price is falling like a rock at the egg...... :D
Honestly that's prob all it needs... all the problems seem to be BIOS related. but the 0311 doesn't fix enough of them for it to be a usable board yet.Quote:

If you want to run this board at stock... and are lucky enough to have RAM that it will boot... you will be happy. A good BIOS should be able to make this a solid product... but how long will that take?
With 0311 not fixing the problems and Asus being famous for slow updates, then it’s probably going to continue to be a problem. So I guess wait and see is the “Current Status”.Quote:

If you want to run RD580 now the choices are somewhat bleak. Chew isn’t having great success with the Sapphire, you’ve ruled out the Asus, and my own personal experience with DFI (eXperts puking and taking 170’s with ‘em) has ruled them totally out of the choices for me, unless after their release the board is proven to be bullet-proof! Abit is still a possibility although their recent history is somewhat of a concern…
It maybe somewhat premature to make this statement but, so much for ATI hitting a home run out of the gate!
Regards-
how ironic that i went ASUS for a stable, good performing board, for longterm use. Ive never liked asus, dunno why, but i initially loved the board when it came out. I wont say it's a POS.. the bios programmers are n00bs.. or well, relatively. When it gets fixed, the board will fly. I won't return it, i'll just wait for confirmation and then install everything then.
The first picture has a different motherboard on it than on the other picture's look at the S-ATA ports(color) and the (boot-)LED-display.Quote:

Hi
even with 0311 this is how I have to overclock with the asus board
return to default clock settings.
change nothing else for now, though you may want to fix the mem skew to it's default manually, taking it out of auto mode.
now lower your multiplier where you expect it to reach desired fsb.
change nothing else at this point
save and reboot.
upon rebooting hit delete to return to bios.
slacken your memory timings to the point where you expect the desired fsb is possible.
enter the rd580 chipset section and set all relevant settings to optimal
change nothing else at this point
save and reboot.
hold delete again to return to bios.
lower the htt link to 400.
set the fsb to 210
save and reboot.
hold delete again and increase fsb to 220
save and reboot.
keep re-entering bios and raise the fsb in increments of 5mhz at a time.
I am getting 246 @11X multiplier timings of 2.5-3-3-7 @ 1t ram speed 200mhz htt link set @ 600, bf2 is stable.
that's 2.72 ghz with amd 4800X2, corsair 3500LL pro.
EXACTLY! And more often than not you will set an option to something you know to work... and the board won't post. After a CMOS cleaning the setting will then work. The CPR is hopeless.Quote:

The DFI board sounds tempting... but I too have heard too many horror stories of boards giving up the ghost too early... or them taking out CPUs (I'm not a bout to risk that with a brand new FX-60) I’m really looking forward to the ABIT board. It's true that they have had there problems... but there stuff at least runs! Here lately they just haven't been meeting the needs of the enthusiast market... There product missing some features doesn't make them a bad board... At least it runs like it's advertised.
I think with the up and coming buy out of ABIT we should start seeing some better parts come down the line. But with the RD580 chipset it carry the soon to be released board, it will be hard for them to make a bad product (Somehow ASUS managed to do so...) All they have to do is put some quality in the board and the chipset will handle the rest.
Bah... Mine is shipping tomorrow. I could call them up to cancel =/
Should I just use my A8N-Premium? My main concern is that I've read reports that many boards have difficulty hitting over 270FSB (even with dividers). I ordered the A8R32 because I saw so many reviews showing it doing 300+ Mhz. And since my Opteron 165 is locked at 9x, I do need a beefy motherboard.
Mine is unlucky board
I tried all ways , but with alls kind off Ram it cant boot in dual and 1T
The board is great in design , but just suck in Bios. And the Asus forums support is dieeeee , no respond from Asus in that forum :slapass:
Good luck to u TooNice :toast:
Any ETA on the DFI/Abit release date?
The Abit must be getting close, I saw it listed on three etailers sites today but without an ETA...... I did sign up for notification so I'm hoping soon.
http://www.bytewizecomputers.com/products/7/7/675/12207
It's available in Canada it seems...
Strange, Asus board review came before the release, but after looking through many sites, I've yet to come across the review of the Abit.
In terms of features, the Abit only seem to have heatpipes over the Asus though.
Prob no ABIT or DFI reviews because the asus was the first to market and people were excited about the chipset...Quote:
