g70 looks like a beautiful case, would like to add it to my collection
Here's my totally radical G70, anodised in metallic copper with a special finish, and powder baked internally. Gotta love that attention to detail ;)

That's the glossy black finish (coated twice and lacquered for extra protection). It's now very difficult to scratch!
Looking good there phil - excellent work as usual.
The best the UK has to offer by a mile.
How did ya find the powder coating with lacquer finish? I would imagine a lot of preparation is required to get it looking so tasty?
Cheers Mav.
Indeed the down side to it all from my point of view is the preparation required to get the case ready for anodising/powder coating. It's not just a matter of supplying "as is" you have to strip the case down totally before it can be worked on. The finish is excellent though.
looks very good! did you buy it like that from some shop, or did you do everything yourself?
Very nice Phil. Great job.

Not identical, but yes. One was at I27 (and is featured on Bit-Tech) and soon to be in CustomPC.Quote:

How much did it cost u?
I own EP-UK the company that does the work ;) It costs you the case (obviously) in the first instance (anything up to £170 here in the UK) plus the modifications to the panels/laser cuts etc, and the anodising itself costs anywhere between £150-£220 depending on the type of finish you go for. Metallics with Ultra-Glow are more expensive than matts.Quote:

I get parts laser cut for free, only problem is that the metal 'warps' upon piercing/cutting [too much heat.]... not a big deal for parts like the case top [Once it's forced down, not a problem.], but I'm worried that a window or something along those lines would bow out.
Need to look up cutting conditions for anodized aluminum. o_o *sets off*
einCe--contact any local factory with a laser, see if they'll do it for you. If you are only ordering 1 it'll be expensive, as there is usually a setup fee involved (for loading the programs onto the laser/etc.) that is a relatively large amount (considering the job.) So the cutting may only be 5 bucks a part, but setup is 50 dollars/job...
So if you make
1 part, 55 dollars..
2 parts, 30 bucks each..
3 parts.. 21.66.
4..17.50 each.
And eventually the savings start to slip to nothingness between parts, but you get the point.
Moral of the story? Get some friends to buy the same case as you, and do the same thing to all of them [cut wise] :P
You'll save yourself loads.

Edit: Just talked to the laser operator/programmer. Apparentally they fixed the problem with aluminum warping--they were cutting with a high enough wattage [2500W], but it was moving to slow. They picked up the feed speed, dross is no longer an issue, and neither is warping.
w00t, eh?
Wow Phil, that is aboslutely gorgeous! I love that bronze color and I think I was just convinced to go and buy one of those G70's.
Where do you find people to do that?!?!?!?Quote:
