I think this is the way to go. You could also sell it without the fans for those that already have/want something differentQuote:

with the last one tilted so the air is blowing parallel to the board. gave me good results with the pwmic and was easier to accomodate for me.
The prototype is here!! And let me tell you it looks GOOD! I can see that I might need to make a few small changes to it but that is pure speculation until I can get it home and put some fans on it.
Thank you all for your input and suggestions, I really appreciate it and I hope to be able to give you all a good deal on these babies once they go in to production.
@pcfreak: That will most definately be one of the purchasing options which will be the least expensive and most appealing option if you have some fans to use or know of some other fans that you'd like to use opposed to the ones that I will be supplying.
@perry_78: What do you mean by tilting the fan? How do you have it so that it's on that angle, I tried to look in to something like this bout I couldnt figure a good way to mount it and create the plexi glass to hold it at an angle. Definately something I'd work on perfecting if I can figure it out though!
Pix in about 8 hours when I get home!!! :toast:
The pix are in!!! She's a beaut and only a few moderate changes need to be made for the production model... Unfortunately that does put back the release date a few weeks but this thing has to be PERFECT before I'm going to mass produce it.
Let's start with the pix and then I'll start with the pro's and con's.

Lookin' good aint she? Mmmmm, I love it! Ok now on to what's great and what needs to be changed.
First and foremost, every single hole and dimension is perfect, everything is lined up just where I had planned it! The mounting holes are in the dead on perfect spots, and the fans are placed where I had measured. The only bad news I have is that for some reason the 50mm fan mounting holes are a bit too close together... I think I may have put them 5mm to close together on each edge, this was just a mistake on my part :( I'll try and get that straightened out tonight or sometime this week so I can get another prototype made. This means that the proto I ordered for the Ultra-D model will also be wrong for the 50mm fans. But, that looks to be the only small flaw. I'm going to try and make it a bit more eye pleasing with a few more cuts and get that fan mounting hole problem taken care of ASAP.
Give me your feedback and tell me what you think!!!
wow.... amazing....
*goes out and making my own :P*
Just wondering, does it affect the air flow? Where did you get those MOSFET heatsinks?
thoes are the new swiftech copper ramsinks
Looks great, very nice work.
How about the air circulation? It is on top of those parts, but without a great ventilation the warm air will just circulate around (by the looks)
@thrilla: Even the slightest crossflow of air generated by the case fans should take care of that problem.
@CPLB: Thanks!
Ok I just got done with v4 model... The 50mm fan alignment should be spot on and I've also nudged the 50mm fans just a tad closer to the socket (yet again eliminating a bit more space between both sides of the bracket but there's just no way around it with this board design) which should center the RAM fans directly over both slots almost exactly.
Going to submit v4 for prototype very soon!
holly crap...
nice stuff there jesus
That looks pretty awesome... It makes me regret not getting the Expert... :(

So, will it fit with a big typhoon? It looks very much like it won't.
Nice Frag. I'll be purchasing the Sli-D/Ultra-D version when its done :)
I don't believe it will, once I get the v4 in I will start testing with various heatsinks.Quote:

So nice!
Thx mate! I halted the prototype of the Ultra-D model until I get back a fully working model of the Expert bracket so that I know all of my fan hole dimensions are going to work out. Depending on the email I get back from my laser cutting company I'll submit the v4 bracket for prototype today. :)Quote:

Frag, you need to link all those fan wires together! So you only need to plug it into two 4 pin molex and not all 5 of them. lol
I will work on the wiring issues once I get a fully functional prototype. Speaking of that I ordered up my v4 proto on friday so I should see it late this next week hopefully. I'm almost positive it will be perfect, i've also moved the 50mm fans over just a tad to cover the ram slot closest to the cpu.
As far as noise goes, the fans that I've selected aren't too loud which should be a plus for the noise freaks. On my own model I'm thinking about getting some of the super high speed delta's that shriek like a banshee, but that's just me :D hehe
It looks really sweet :slobber:
I think I will make my own, but i dont want so many small fans, they make to much noise and moves to little air.
If you're using an Expert you won't be able to use fans any larger than what I've used here.
I would definately buy an Ultra D/SLI-DR version
hmm.. i must say that if th vyou get it to fit with an SI-120, and also reduce the number of required molex connections w/ sleeving, then i'd be VERY interested in a UV-blue version! VERY! (I'd be more interested in receiving it unassembled for cost reasons.)
I guess my only concern at this point is that most of the air-cooling heatsinks will not fit... have you tested any air HS's at all with v3.0?
EXCELLENT idea, and great work there man! keep it up!
EDIT: Actually, after studying my rig a bit and doing some measurements, i have decided that a solution such as yours would be totally impossible to fit into mine, given the SI-120 w/fan and the case itself bringing the HD's hanging out over the mosfets. ahh, oh well.. it's still a pretty sweet setup man, and if I ever get a bigger case and different HS, I would definately try it out! Best of luck!
Thats pretty sweet :) The work you`ve put into it reflects :)
can those mobo screw holes still be used for securing the mobo or do those bars screw into the normal screw holders as normal and do the same job?
:)
