Temperature was measured with one case side open by reading the on-die thermal diode of our ATI Radeon X1800 XL PCI-Express. Idle temperature was measured after letting Windows sit one hour at the desktop. Load temperature was measured after running 3DMark2003 looped for one hour. Both at the card's default clock of 500 / 495 MHz.
I think it performs like hell :D..
And it isen´t THAT bad it blows air at the motherboard.. Though i´d prefered an Silencer-style, where the air comes out of the case.
I hope zalman comes with something that cools great, but has a better design.
By the way, have you notices ThermalRight´s v-1 Ultra ? That is a nice GPU cooler :toast: http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/m...ct_v1ultra.htm
Though, it has combabillity-problems :slapass:
they arent on there homepage yet.
Maybe they wont be launced afterall?
Meh.. i'm not impressed with the cooler. The two reasons why i've owned Arctic cooling products were that they performed well AND..... exhausted outside the case. Other coolers perform well.... and since Arctic-Cooling has now gotton rid of their exhaust duct design... they're right in the same boat as everyone else IMO.
Btw... I can care less about noise. My computer is already noisy with the fans runnning at 12v and i usually wear headphones while playing games and could care less when doing heavy video editing.
My X800XL AGP which i had previious to this setup didn't bug me with an Arctic-Cooling Silencer modified to work with a Panaflo 80mm U1A fan (the stock Arctic-Cooling fan fried within an hour of owning it), which seriously blew incredibly hard out the back of the case and was very noisy... i don't think many others will bug me.

i completely disagree with you the air will not get hot enough to make the power components get hot but will actually cool them this i am sure ofQuote:

personally id take a normal copper cpu cooler with thin fins like this one

then drill and tap in screws to match the mounting of your card and buy some small screws to screw it in and some small springs.
all those things could be had at homedepot cheap
you could also cut the fins down 1/2 inch or so and make the cooler more compact if you think its too large taking up too many slots
this would make a cooler that performs near watercooling levels but cost 10-15 total for the project!
