why would it have to do with the source voltage of the outlet?
unless you have a really crappy psu it shouldnt make a real different on the rails the psu produces...
im rather guessing its the spd as well, lets hope just the spd blew or got corrupted for some reason.
there have been reports about corupted and damaged spd chips on tccd sticks on other boards as well and they stop working with certain timings.
i havent tested my memory in anothwr system tbh, maybe its not dead after all?
Guess what, my old partly dead mushkin 256 bh5 stick doesn't work at all on this board (works on other boards though). Sorry, can't kill it more by doing the above mentioned procedure :/
Does it work on nf4 platform? coz my sticks wont work @ dfi ultra-d.

I've had a Dothan and BH5 for five months, must have crashed hundreds of times. Ram is still alive and kicking...*touches wood* Often times after a crash, I can't POST unless I pull one of the sticks out and just leave one in to let it boot in single channel. Works fine, and then shut off again, stick the second module in and I'm good to go. But I don't think I ever had CPU-Z and clockgen open at once. I've always run with the kyosen vdimm mod. I have a feeling that if there's a real issue, it would protect the ram since it overrides the mobos circuitry to an extent and always gives exactly what the +3.3v rail is to the ram, so next to no chance of a burnout.

Iam reading this thread too late. One stick of Corsair 3500c2 just die. The bord is P4p800E delux, ofcourse with adapter. Vdimm was 3.3. Ram was runing at 245 MHz 2.5 2 2 5. I couldn`t get higher frecuency that 260 with any timmings, why?? On 2x256 Hynix D43 i can do 291 with 2 4 4 5.

I had one 256mb stick of BH-UTT that died in a P4P800-SE. One of the traces on the RAM was all black and ofcourse it doesn't work ever since. I'm not sure if the motherboard caused it or the RAM itself. The motherborad is dead now by the way, after inserting a USB-headset. I hate Asus.

Guys, I think if you do the kyosen vmod, you'll be fine. I crash nearly daily at 3.47 vdimm; BH5 and a Dothan. Hundreds of crashes and the memory is all right. Has anyone using the kyosen mod killed BH5 so far?
I have a P4C800-E and have replaced the Vdimm mod by the Kyosen mod because in idle my Vdimm was 3,3V but when i run Memtest it drops to 3,1V and it wasn't my PSU,with the Kyosenmod Vdmm idle and stressed are almost the same,anyone the same experience?Quote:

have dead bh5 ram (caused by an asus board with a dothan cpu) did to
their boards. oldskool or kyosen.

bios (version),
ram (brand&type, size, ss/ds, clocks, timings & volts at death), slots used

psu (brand & type, mods - setting of the rails at time of death of ram)...
and then maybe additional data about the circumstances during which the
ram died. benching, idling, gaming. what programs were running at the time

there *must* be some common ground here. i cant believe this is all just a
series of coincidences...

just checked ram voltages on the P4GD1 with the ct479 - after crashes the shutdown and reboot sends some voltage spikes that are responsible for the ram deaths - usually the shutdown is +0.2V the bootup +0.4V.
On random times I have seen +1V !!!- from 3.2V it jumped up to 4.2V - pretty harsh...can kill lots of good ram
This is on unmoded board and virgin CT479 - voltage was measured from the slot itself

think the Kyosen Mod might be safe - not sure about it - but considering trying that one soon

CPU-Z has NOTHING to do with this - even if it might cause a crash for random reasons - the bug lies somewhere else....

CUP_Z + Clockgen has not to be blamed for any ram/hardware casualties....In the boards or he actual CT479 adapters - there might be something that doesn't allow to dischargecertain .................well somebody else should figure that out better than what I am trying to guestimate - since I am talking out of my ass right now.......
