It is hard to boot with 201+ with 14x multi, it is pretty much the limit of the chip on air. Might try the difference on DICE some day.

your welcome sangboy:)
well i cant afford a dothan dude :D
i got this banias on ebay 2 years ago for 40€ :D
i was working on a pentium m to pentium 4 478 adapter back then hehhe
but i couldnt afford to make a prototype pcb, plus i didnt know how to use the pcb trace design tools correctly... and there were like 20 pins i couldnt identify...
im not even sure my adapter would have worked hahahah, but it was fun, and it was even more fun to see everybody go ct479 after nobody really believed me that an adapter could be built :D

http://members.dodo.com.au/~cameron1...d/pm_to_p4.htm
the next thing we need is a 478 yonah to 775 adapter :D
i hope somebody from asus reads this :hrhr:
anyways, thats how i got this banias, and i cant afford a dothan... the ones i saw on ebay now are way to expensive for a secondary rig, and id rather get a 165 for my main rig than a dothan for this secondary rig.
oh and yeah, my ct479 is set to 100fsb.
thx vapor, i might pop in your 780es to check if theres also a fsb limit, but i dont think so.
Has anyone used a retail 770 chip in their projects? I'm trying to get an idea what to expect when I get into this in a week or so.Board will be a P4GD1
Any info appreciated, voltages, top speed that you've seen and 24/7 stable speeds,etc....Thanks in advance.
hmmm depends... the chips vary a lot... could be anything from 2.5 to 2.9ghz afaik
I got around 2850mhz I think on my 770m with the ct-479 aluminum cooler fr be benches, you should be able to do somwhere between 2750 and 2900 for 24/7 I would imagine. Really depends on chip, but those were my results on the only 770m I had.Quote:

well according to the guy i got the 780es chips from some of them only did 2.6ghz... and those were chips of a very recent stepping...
so as i said, there are bad chips amongst them, but most seem to do 2.7 or 2.8ghz :)
I see that there are some download links added :)
Could you update the link to EIST.zip because
http://www.cpuid.org/download/eist.zip
does not work!
It has been attached to the post on XS:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...id=40562&stc=1
Thanks and I am sure you will find this tool very valuable to change multi in Win
:toast:
added :)
also added a link to download crystalcpu wich i used to change multis
added some more links :D
the asus download servers are incredibly slow... the gloabl one is the fastest for me with 18kb/s
for bios files thats ok, but for a 30mb audio driver it isnt!
some files are rather large, so im going to make a zip file with all the latest drivers and tools in it and will host it somewhere so you dont have to download all files one by one and wait for hours so the downloads are complete.
Saaya XS's administrator can't afford a dothan for his second rig  :p:Quote:

let's put it like this:do me a yonah 775 adapter and i'll send you a dothan for free :D
I'm a newcomer here, not a young guy(53) like the majority, but one thing impressed the hell out of me and that was the open hand of friendship and a willingness to help out a total stranger. It may be common here but as most of you know it's not common in life. The first guy I met here was runmc, an email to his web page and from him a lot of good advice and then went out of his way to help me find a P4GD1 that I'd been searching for months for. Then sayaa, a guy that lives half a world away and went out of his way to be helpfull to all here by setting up the purchase of the boards and the 780ES's.Quote:

If you think this is out of line, no problem by me, this is just how I feel.
no money, no time, missing knowledge of cpu/chipset/bus architecture :/Quote:

the best chance for this adapter would be to keep asus nagging :D
or gigabyte... i will definately poke some people at cebit, maybe thatll do the trick :D
ok, finished the folder with all tools and drivers :D
will post a link in 5mins

your welcome guys :toast:
hope you like it, i tried to make it as complete as possible :D
if you find a mistake or typo or have anything to update it with please let me know :)
whoa, nice job, saaya :D :toast:
thx :toast:
If your Celeron D can at least hit 3Ghz (upto 167FSB), then at least you know that FSB at that setting will not be a problem :)...of course, the 2.4C would be best, since it's known to hit 3Ghz without problem (250FSB), so pushing the mobo with this CPU and finding the RAM tweaks, will also prove beneficial for the CPU and PCIe. You can then focus (and easily isolate) if Dothan/Banias or even PCIe is the cuplrit for some OC wall :)..Quote:

To start, do I have to do anything "special" to get this board working with my northwood. All this flashing bios stuff has got me a bit curious. I assume the first thing I want to do is flash to 1006?
the vdimm mods in the first page. . . . is that neccessary to overclock this board? I've never attempted an overclock but hope this will be a learning experience when I get my comp set up. This will probably be my biggest upgrade task (changing a complete mobo out). Any way someone out there can write a quick and dirty step by step guide on how to start overclocking . . . software to install first, adjust setting a, then b, etc. any specific tolerances i need to look for?
All these are really noob questions but i'm will to take some flak for being a novice if it means i get to learn something. Any help would be appreciated.
Btw Saaya and Cirthix are awesome for arranging all this. My hat's off to you guys, well done!
