where did you get it?
was it bought at a normal shop as a opty 146?
or did you know you got a special one?
I would really love to have on of thoose because my board can't go over 327HTT and I have a Venice 3200+...means 3270MHZ max shot but I'm not able to really max it out :(

Why are people thinking it's so weird that cpu-z shows opteron 194 and 162 etc. That's about same as my old Palomino XP 1900+ when I overclocked it 66MHz (only raised FSB), both at CMOS and windows reported it as XP 2000+ & I clocked it more and it showed as 2100+. In case the multi for some reason is unlocked the programs just can't probably recognise it correctly as it's not a "normal" sample.

because there is no opteron 194 and 162, and cpuz reads the chip name/rating independantly from the cpu speed.
didnt you notice that an a64 3000+ will always show as a 3000+ at bootup no matter what speed its running at?

704-2BTA. It might be your processor actually, because before (on my Venice) my board couldnt even handle 310 either. :stick:

EDIT: BTW its 365MHz x 8. :D

Yes but the combined effect of an Overclock + Increased multipliers must be confusing CPUz.

a 148, tested just before mounting this 146, was correctly identified by cpu-z 1.31

buy another 146, repeat what you did (run 148 at 11x then drop in the 146) and see what happens!

No. There are no effects in identifying AMD64 CPUs. There's something that's called BrandID, its a 12 bit field divided in to 2 6bit fields, the higher 6bits are the BrandID value you see in the "BrandID" field in GCPUID and CPU-z, the lower 6 bits have the CPU rating number. there's specific formulas for each type of CPU, and the end result is the PR number for the chip. So software, if written correct, and both GCPUID and CPUz are written correctly in this regard can not get confused.

The versions used in that screenshot are just too old, that's probably why the CPU is being recognized incorrectly.

that's pretty cool imho, make good use of it. I bet you can sell it for a ton, as well. "unlocked opteron clocks to fx-59 speeds, fraction of the price" be a real seller.

It could be a bios/board bug that "Unlocks" these chips. Give it a try, see what happens.

I think the chips have to be similar--I ran my 4400+ at 11x multi and then swapped in my 146 and it didn't unlock at all :stick:

After that, in fact, I had problems with running the 10x multi for long durations of time with my 4400+ (switched up to 11x after an hour or so). A BIOS update seemed to have fixed it.

??? Stock cooling? More details please. Stepping, test conditions.
Those numbers are high, and to just post that without details is asking for a BS flag. (IMHO)
