I'm not sure that it's funny. He is either very good at yanking your chain or he is suffering from psychotic delusions e.g. schizophrenia. Most schizophrenics are non-violent and those that are, are seldom homicidal. It is unlikely he would become dangerous to you abruptly. You swould see that his behavior is becoming more aggressive or violent or that he talks about violence or that he harms himself or animals, before he would become violent towards another person. I would recommend that you attempt to get him some help or at least an evaluation. He may not be taking medication he is supposed to be taking. That is a very common problem. People with schizophrenia believe that there is nothing wrong with them, so why should they be taking medication.Quote:

Saaya, listen my roommate exhibits the same behavior, exactly. She has bipolar disorder. Earlier this week, she had her second manic episode. The first one happened about three years ago. She just found a new job 2 months ago, and she's been off her medication since because she doesn't have a car or a ride to see her doctor. Without the meds, the reoccurance of a manic eposide is very common. Manic depression can cause schitzophrenic symtoms such as voices and visuals.
It all started on Monday. She started telling me how happy she was, that she finally figured out everything she needs to accomplish in life, and exactly how she needs to do it. This is the "manic" end of bipolar disorder. On Tuesday, she got depressed. She would cry sporadically about nothing. She wouldn't talk to me about why she was crying, because she didn't know herself. On Wednesday, she called in sick to work, but I convinced her to go. When she came home from work, she explained to me that the people at work kept asking her why she was laughing all day long, and she couldn't explain it to me.
That evening, while I was playing some Quake 4, after I took my headphones off, I looked into the living room and she had taken all of my DVDs off of the bookshelf and was aligning the cases on the floor into triangular patterns. At this point I knew something was wrong. She would talk and not make any sense. She stayed awake all night long, as did I because I was truly worried about her. On my way to work the next morning, I called her mother so she could come and pick her up, and try to get her the medication that she needed. Well the mother left her in the car alone with the keys in the ignition, and my friend hopped into the driver's seat and took off with the car, leaving her mother behind.
She drove the car to New York City (I live in CT) until she was stopped by police. The cops were chasing her, until the car ran out of gas. I called her mother's cell phone, which was in the car, and a cop answered and told me what had happened and that she was under arrest. Apparently she almost ran over an officer. They didn't charge her for that (thank god) but she does have charges on her, which will probably be dropped in court due to her medical condition.
She started playing the game "second life" last week, and she had been watching the news religiously which is really abnormal for her. I should have picked up on the signs, but it's really hard to tell if she was being serious or just goofing around. But yes, television and video games are definitely bad. Medical attention is a must. She takes three prescriptions - a mood stabilizer, an anti-depressant, and one other which I cannot remember.
Sorry to hear that you're sick, and I really hope the best for your friend. BTW, thank you for hooking all of us up with the P4GD1's. I can't wait to get mine so I can start some PCI-e action on the dothan platform. Yes bipolar disorder is not rare.
A friend of mine has it and she cannot afford to pay for the medications she say....(she live in the usa).
She does't hear voices as far as i know (she din't tell me anyway) but she can get very violent when she is in the manic phase...

well but in the end he was really freaked out, he called me from his partens house and said they are taking care of him now, wich really reliefed me.
i called some help lines and got to some place where people can go to and get free medication, at least for 2 or 3 days, until they can visit a doctor and they can get infos etc.
i talked to a doctor there and shes said its fairly common and most people who get this get it all the sudden out of nowhere... this is still freaking me out... how can you hear vopices out of nowhere all the sudden without ever having had a problem?
well at least now i know what to do, and all you guys reading this too.

She's still in a hospital, they need to hold her there until her mood is stabilized, then she will be released. Yes, she needs to take her meds every day to keep her condition stable, or else she loses it again. This is only the second time that this has ever happened to her.Quote:

How much LCD and Extasy does this guy do. If he is a hard core clubber that does drugs alot, then he is just having flashes. Otherwise, he is probably losing his mind.
99% of people that used drugs for a prolonged period of time (amphetamines and lsd/mushrooms) will develop some degree of paranoia (whether sober or wasted)
Staying awake for days on end (amphetamines) for longer periods makes matters worse (if they arent in fact the main cause .... )
Paranoia from sleep deprevation/ampetamines is incredible mean, stay awake long enough and you will hear people come up the stairs if you want to hear it or listen hard enough...
It can creep up on you slowly bit by bit, or ambush you full blast < those are the worst :-)
The trick is to accept the fact that you are hearing/seeing/feeling things that aren't there and then you can even laugh about it and test it by closely listening to nothing so to speak.
Extremely weird, because you do hear it, except not (probably) (don't do this with sober people around though)
But this takes practice and a big ego, and 3 guys laughing at him and creating scenario's does not help and can really f*ck an "untrained" person up..
Smart people have the most trouble dealing with this sporatic paranoia and for some reason the smarter they are, the easier they go overboard and crash so to speak ...
Being dumb is definately a pro i guess...
In the amphetamine scene paranoia is about the most common thing besides your d*ck shrinking to half the size of its sober state, but luckily that wares of along with the drug and a good long sleep ...
So about your roommate, just be glad he is out your house as harsh as it may sound, but judging from your posts and the fact that his behaviour is very weird to you and your roommates, there is nothing you can do to help him anyways and he is probably better of somewhere else ...
he never did lsd or mushrooms, he smoked cannabis every now and then, thats all... and he didnt smoke for weeks, months even i think.
this all came out of nowhere... and he is not really smart, and he does deal with it very well :D today his brother and his father came to pick up his stuff fro his room...
me and the other roomate helped them... was a weird atmosphere...
anyways, hes ok now and under medication and is seeing a doctor every few days.
he will live in the house of his parents who will take care of him until hes fine again...
i hope he gets back to normal without having to take drugs all the time... :(
oooohh :-) i'm pretty sure i read the whole thread but must have gotten the wrong impression somewhere then ...
good to hear your friend/roommate is in good hands, then he's already half way there i guess :-)
ah, good to hear it. and yes, getting better without drugs is the best thing, or at least not needing them afterwards.
