hey ocZZ, are you using that DFI for the overclock?
yes, ultra-d, 2nd core was failing at that speed. Dropped it to 2.75ghz@ 1.53v and so far it seems good.
Guys my temps are just going crazy. 78C loaded with themalright & 120mm x 38mm high pressure delta fan. Im afriad to prime test anymore cause AMD say 67C for this processor.

Do I got a problem in between processor and lid? This is pissing me off.
Must be a really bad contact!

yours the sweetest so far!Quote:

still running pretty low V-core 1.325 X 110%
I am fighting with low memory benches, I wonder if it is the divider I run or the MAL/read preamble which seem pretty loose (on AUTO in BIOS)?
Thanks. Up to 2.95GHz prime stable (on air); will post a screen a little later. Going for 2.97GHz or so today... Might also take a look at max SuperPi 32M; don't use this myself for stability but lots here do. Low priority though.Quote:

ixtapalapaquetl: you're doing this on air with an xp-90? wow.
I just bought my opteron 165 at monarch for 287$ hopefully I can OC the crap out of that one just like the Opterons they show here. I would love to have a 2.8GHz at stock.
these steppings are looking promising.......seems that australian ones 0534SPMW are not as good but still decent..........one is a 2.85GHz with 1.65v (also keep in mind it's pretty hot here) second one is on phase at 3GHz with stock vcore i thinkQuote:

Yep. Bottom of HS is notched pretty badly by an old naked core too! Need to lap it real bad. Here's the 2.95 shot. Fighting for 3.0 again now. Large FFT's keep failing in minutes.Quote:

ixtapalapaquetl and racinjimmy, I ordered a dfi-cf, should be here wed or thurs. I'll be running with everything in sig, as of right now, with the IHS off, idle temp for me is 26c, (that's what my board says, I have no idea what it really is, and I have to vaccum off the dust from the front of my 302 too :P ) Guys, looks like we really lucked out. Whoever wants that stepping better order it retail from monarch FAST (i'm talking about the 175!!! nothing else, don't be mad if you order a diff chip model and don't get that stepping, as of right now, as far as any of us know, that stepping does not exist for any other model). Of course, I'm pretty sure you'll get it slow as hell, I almost cancelled on the last day that they actually sent me the tracking # for the chip. Since this is the dual core opty thread, I'll only be updating my own thread (with more indepth analysis) and this thread with just some benches and screenies, and a sucide shot or two, hehe.
well I have decided on what my max 24/7 will be
I run climateprediction.net, which in my opinion is even more intense and prone to errors than prime95
SO
24/7 is 285X10 with a 5/6 divider for 2850 and 237 on my VX
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...imy/screen.jpg
and max benchable so far for me is:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...njimy/2915.jpg
I tried for 3 gHz and it was a no go even cranking up the volts, I never had a CPU temp issue BUT my PWMIC went to like 60C under load at 273X11 with 1.425 X 110% (1.61V) to the CPU under two instances of superPI and I have GREAT case airflow with an intake blowhole over my ram.........
Monarch has the 165 in stock for a decent price -
OEM: http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merch...&AFFIL=dt&NR=1
Retail: http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merch...ct_Code=120338
Damn, if I didn't have this X2 already I would BUY BUY BUY!
Had another go at 3GHz, got beat back down to 2.97GHz. Will leave it here till I can lap the Venice core indentations out of my HS.

Memory still loose:

Got my 165 today.. CCBWE 0534
gotta run to class but I am priming at 2475 MHz @ 1.31V at the moment.
so the ccbwe 170's can get 2800/2900 on air (xp90) with relative ease? And is it worth paying the 50 or so extra dollars on monarch for the retail 170 kit? or just get the OEM and spend the rest of the money to get an xp90?
thanks
sorry for the double post, but at what volts are these chips safe to have on air? I see a lot of people on around 1.5 but with only air and having base volts be 1.3, it seems like a big jump
so is an increase in .2ish volts safe with an xp90?
