it's really hard to kill any A64 without short circuit or shock on the core
I'm actually testing the worst cooling of the world, i've lapped a BGA heatsink and now i use a fan , now i can prime at 1.1v easily full temp is 59°
I'm searching the max stable and i will do a video.
-
How about pumping 1.7V+ without any cooling?
-
instantaneous shut down :/
-
And if you do it over and over again??? ;)
-
-
Well...give it a whirl!! Everyone's doing it ;)
Nah man, I wanna see how this thing can step up through various means of cooling though :D
-
i'm improving my BGA cooling , impressive results !! :D
-
I reckon this would be a good way to test different BGA coolers....;)
-
the one i'm using was my 9700 hercules bga heatsink :)
-
Nice torture-testing there!
Don't put a BGA heatsink on it - the whole point is that its naked! lol :)
-
For sure , yes ;)
But it will be interresting to see what is the minimal cooling to reach 3000+ stock frequencies or a little overclocked :)
-
The minimal cooling for overclock is here :
Video2 :woot:
-
lol 1865mhz with this tiny cooler and a fan °_°
just insane......i think it's nearly impossible to kill the newer a64-cores -_-
mfg

i just ran my 3000 winchester at 1.8vcore with no hsf for more than 15 seconds. went into bios and looked around a bit. the ihs helps.
i have a bunch of bga sinks.. im gunna sink up my winchester and see what it can do! hahahhah
its an AWFUL chip for overclocking(2.7gig on phase change) i bet BGA sinks and a fan on those will get me stock speed hahhahaha
-
great results! :toast: now overclock it with a little bigger bga-heatsink!
-
no, because it's not enough xtreme :D
-
rofl...good work :P impressive indeed
-
wow that's a nice score....have I looked wrong or is it just 25°C???
think i will cut off my hs again because this is looking funny - core with small heatsink - sweeeet :D
-
:D
Yes it's really strange to touch the core while prime runs :D
-
awsome ^^ thats just i dont know ^^ crazy stuff man ^^ go for 2ghz ^^
-
This is quite insane misteroadster! It really goes to show that you can have a good powered passive cooling rig if you know what you're doing!
As I said before--you should consider using this method to test different BGA sinks!
-
See how high you can make it go while using your finger as a heatsink! ;) :D
-
in the video you have it at 1.8ghz with the bga ramsink and fan.. pretty amazing if u ask me.
-
Yeah....imagine how much AMD could cut down costs if they only had to include a BGA sink! :p:
-
would this also be possible with the IHS still on. :D
