it is possible.
-Lower timings on the RAM
-I recall hearing that ATI ENTIRELY redesigned their memory controller, that would help a bundle also I reckon
-Pipelines, we don't know the details about the pipes but if these pipes are 1.33 times a normal pipe, if you take into account some other new features this could add up to the score/performance you see there
-Architecture, a new architecture could be the reason for the respins and the low yields in the beginning that will hopefully be worked out because new architectures ALWAYS have a lot of problems with introduction and getting the bugs out of them
-PCB design. I haven't looked at it good yet but a good PCB can do a lot to, (remember brainpower PCB's versus "Normal" RAM PCB's? helped performance also
comebine that and you get a nice fuzzy feeling if it appears to be true.
if this is a forebod of the R520 I welcome it with open arms. Was about time we saw something "real" about ATI's new cards.
