272mhz still good ain't it :D
yes, it's ok......but after Guess posted 4x1gig @ 295mhz ? lolQuote:

My OC skill is nowhere near any of you guys. But I am tryin 4X1GB Ballistix. So far I can get it up to 220 FSB only. Any higher, the rig won't boot.
Still trying.... hope to get to your OC level sometime...
Very impressive George, i wonder if windows vista will use 4gig or even if win 64 will use it have you tried win 64 yet to see if it will use the full amount?
typer77 i couldn't get past 250mhz until i played musical chairs with the ram modules and swapping dimm slots - use memtest to take note of where the errors are and which modules that would relate to to guide you :)
kenetixx, 64bit windows will use the ram but haven't tried it yet ;)
Wheeew. this really is frustrating. I think I am gonna have to spend more time on this.
In the mean time, what do you set your DRAM Response Time, DRAM drive strength and DRAM Data Drive Strength at?
thought i posted those.. those values are here http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=1316 in first post :)
623-3 bios only allows me premable of 5.5ns no looser Auto-Normal-Auto is what i use with 623-3
but now on 704-2BTA but haven't tested crucial yet on this bios :D
Thank you Eva. I am hoping I can achieve 260 stable. then move onto higher number later.
By the time I am done playing with this, I think my computer will be an aged animal again... :)
so.. how about tighter timings, like 2.5-3-2-x? :D
If I can achieve 240 X 9 with the rams stable but not 240 X 10. Does that mean mem controller can't handle it? Is there anyway like jacking up Vcore can solve it?
OFF Topic: My maid accidently jumped the fuse of my house and I can smell something burnt coming from the PSU (Antec TP2 550). The computer was turned off at that instance, I hope nothing got fried. Praying....
depends on what you mean unstable for 240x10 ?
haven't tried hehQuote:

Then I kept everything the same except for 240X9, memtest passed w/out problem.
I have also tried swapping sticks into diff dimms. but it didn't help.
try more vdimm ? higher the cpu multiplier the more stress on mem controller so may need more vdimm and/or looser timings on the ram
I tried it and it didnt' work.
However, I have swapped the stix around again and looks like it's consistantly coming from 1 stick. If the address is at 20XXMB and 41XXMB (after I swap the sticks from Dimm2 to Dimm4.) That means it's coming from the same stick right?
On the same token, as you said earlier 4GB looks like an overkill for WinXP, so I may just RMA the suspected weak stick and keep 2GB only.
yeah from same stick it seems
Thank you eva2000!!!
might want to try different bioses too
i'm retesting my 2x1GB ballistixs configs on 704-2BTA as well and something interesting
623-3 both sets of 2x1GB ballistixs rock stable at 285mhz 3-3-3-8 with 2.76v with 8/5.5ns with AUTO/AUTO drive/drive data strength
704-2BTA can't get stable at 285mhz 3-3-3-8 at 2.76v or 2.79v with 8-9 max async or 5.5/6/6.5ns premable with AUTO/AUTO drive/drive data strength - seems i need more vdimm - still testing
Looks like I'm going to use 4x1gig ballistix perminately on my work rig. I've got some Redline coming and going to use it in my gaming rig plus picking up Windows 64 pro this weekend if they have it at compusa. I'll spend some time with the setup this time around and see if 280mhz is possible.
I know that Windows XP x64 doesn't have the memory limitation for 64 bit applications, but isn't Prime95 still a 32bit app? Won't it run under WOW64 and still only be allowed the 2GB?Quote:

Not sure what the limitation is ?Quote:

I just decided not to sell my other set of ballistix since I'm going with LL on the gaming rig. The games I play don't really require 2gig right now and I'll still have the ballistix if I decide to go back to 2gig.

There is now a 64-bit of Prime95 available for download from the offcial site.Quote:
