im curently having the same problem. its the cpu mem controller :(Quote:

skt939 memcontrollers just plain suck....ive had like 5 cpus and they all suck.
untill then, try your ram like this.
2-2-5-2-7-16-2-2-auto-2-3120-auto-enable Increase-0-3-1-7x-Fast-5x-256clks-Disable-16x-7x-disable.
run memtest #5 for atleast 25 passes and tell me if you get errors. your ram may need a bit different settings, like the 8-1 drive strengths ;)
Thx for helping me :) So i tried your setting and this wierd problem happenedQuote:

The fisrt run , prime failed in 15 seconds
I didn't change any settings and keep running again , and now it still runs fine  , i'm getting confused  WTF is giong on ?
Off course i will let it run longer to see what 's next :D
BTW , my A64 3000+ Winnie 0509 is suck , max stable with divider is 2.3Ghz ( tried on Tccd and BH5 are same result ) :nono: :slapass:

I am having similar weird issues. Prime one day can run for 9 hours, then another day fails after 2 mins, then I start it up immediately after fail and it will run for 2 hours then fail etc. Not very consistent. My memory controller on my winchester is balls as well. Can barely do early 230's 1:1 if I want a higher cpu speed I have to lower it via a divider. It is running now at only 224mhz and it is JUST stable at that speed with 1.66v going through the cpu.
same deal for me. memtest np (all tests multiple loops). prime just bombs 30-45mins in at the same mark. small FFT is where it usually bombs for right now. if i clock down by 4-5 it can run for some time.
yeh its just the crappy mem controllers and i dont think the vtt issue on the dfi nf4 is helping with consistancy either.
what i hate the most is i can goto memtest #5 and get say 11 errors, ill restart with same settings and get 24 errors. its never consistant so its hard to tell if changing a setting is helping or hurting :(
xs64, try running your bh-5 at these settings
250mhz 2-2-5-2-7-15-0-2-2-1-3120-1
you will still need the voltage but at only 250mhz you will get pretty good performance. try that and your key might be tight but a bit slower. you can also try to get cas 1.5 which at lower speeds usually help me, and try for tras 4 or 0. LMK! :toast:
oh and about the bios, 704-2 is much more smooth than 702-2! no more hangs or anything! now time to do stability testing considering this like bh-5 bank interleave on and 702 didnt :p:
EDIT: 702 messed up my cpu temp sensor too...704 fixes
So far so good with the 704-2 with mine. Havent messed with ay of the settings though, just loaded up the saved BIOS profiles I had.
we might question if its REALLY the memcontroller..
in my case #5/memtest is fine too....but .i cant pass OCCT for 10 seconds....but if i increase vdimm i can.
(Btw. i am running my TCCD at 3.1V right now..dont ask me why they all of a sudden need that much....i just know they were fine 2.9V months and months and now i have extreme instability w/ 2.9 and i am pumping 3.1V in them and i am HALFWAY stable.
ive been runnign the 510fix-3 bios now and I able to hit 3.2ghz and play counterstrike all day but I flashed the 704-3 and -1 and computer wont even boot at 3ghz. I reflashed with the 510fix and boom 3.2ghz again. All on a little 3200 venice.
flexy, im testing the vdimm now ;)
i really hope amd has good mem controller when we migrate to ddr2 or ddr3....look at Oppainters thread, his $1,200 fx-57 (made for XTREME overclocking may i remind you) maxes out at 230 :(
thats what really pi$$es me off about amd atm...that and the friggen cold bugs
Shroom, thanks for the post. i have never touched any of the 510 mod ones yet, now i will
sorry for the double post but i think this is all due to the vtt problems. both the cpu and ram use vtt so if its off even a little it will casue these types of problems...
my 2 cents
does anyone have cold boots whit this bios, is the problem fixed, i m going to receive new dfi mobo and new ocz sticks and i don t know exactly which bios to use, and which precautions
please advise
thanks
you may want to check this FAQ out too :toast:Quote:

I tried 0704-1 tonight, didn’t work well at all. I could not post at stock or any other setting with TCC5, I had to reset CMOS repeatedly just to get into BIOS. I have tried pretty much every BIOS that has came out since 0217 and this is the only one I have had a post problem with.
I put in my BH, booted up fine. Flashed back to 0618.
Good bios, but nothing special.
704-2 works better than -3 with my GSkill TCCD 440
Don't have a USB keyboard :( .Quote:

try 704-2. 704-1 is quite tight.Quote:

as for the ram deal, i tried running 275mhz 1:1 with 9 multi and at any vcore i could not pass occt. so i tried 270mhz 1:1 10multi and im occt stable at 1.52v actual vcore....
tend to agree there...maybe THE source of all our instabilty problems !Quote:

Well it seems that one thing is clear, everyone has a different result.

It really does make me gear towards saying "if it ain't broke" (ala a bios works well for you) don't fix it (don't always flash to the newest one.)
I flashed to 704-2 and this bios seems to work "okay". I have a few quirks with it though.
Although the my usb wireless mx duo works, the extra keys on my keyboard are all messed up. For example, the play button mutes and the mute button acts like stop button.
I'm also have some problems with my ram dividers. I can get my ram to past memtest at 255 w/ 3.6v but no matter what volts I can't get my ram to do past 240 stable with a divider.
Correct me if i'm wrong but Opp's 230htt limit was only when he took the cpu toQuote:
