Seems as if he's hit himself with the hammer as I haven't seen him around at all lately....Quote:

I never got hit hard with some of the symptoms of the cold-boot issues (single stick funkies and all), but did occasionally have my PSU totally shut off several times, within very short time frame of hitting the power button. Typically the second or third try would work in my case.
After reading this, I'm almost certain that it was also an overload condition on my 5vsb that was shutting me down.
Thanks again ... excellent work
anyone know if this works with PC Power Cooling 510W SLI psu ?
Should work just the same as the 850... ;)Quote:

You can use the jumper config with any PS.
yay.. thanks EMC2 :)
so this method will still generate more heat near 5V jumper mosfet then 3.3v jumper mode ?
Yes... no diff in heat. In regards to that... the key is getting airflow across the surface of the MB in that area. I use a 92mm that way and can hold my finger any where top or bottom of the regulator area, no problem ;) Look here :toast:
I tried this and for the first time i can use 5V option with my cheap aspire PSU.
But sometimes i have to reboot 1-3 times cuz of hold at 3 leds.
This is with one sick stick with cold boot, but it works without booster now.
I cant get this to work! I'm using a Zippy 700 WATT P/S..
I dont know if i'm doing it right or not.. atm i cant find any info on the correct procedure to get the 4v vdimm jumpper working.
I've done the jumpers as you said and set the CPU to something other then auto and turned the system off and switched the jumpers around and powered back up and only to find the same 3.2v option in the bios..
I was using bios 310 so i thought maybe it only worked with some newer bios for some dumb reason so i flashed to the 510-2 to try out some old BH-5 love and same crap.
HELP!!!!
Well, actually you already have it working ;) The fact that your system booted up and you got into the BIOS with the Zippy and using the 5V rail shows that...
Regarding the >3.2V options... you have to have the first jumper (topmost when installed in a "normal" case) in the 5V position... basically all jumpers except the 2nd one go to 5V position, 2nd to 3.3V position. It is that first jumper that is "read" by the BIOS to see if it should enable options >3.2V. The "no auto CPU VID" only has an effect on whether the changes made to Vmem "stick" after you change them, not whether they show up at all ;)
Look at the digi-cam pic of the jumpers in my first post of this thread to see the complete proper jumper config.
Peace :toast:
ps. I would suggest 6.23 BIOS or higher for other reasons (cold boot)...
I have it set up as shown.. If its working then how do you raise the vdimm higher then 3.2v?? Thats the highest selection for me.
Smart guardian still reports 3v vdimm as i have selected.
Ok all good now.. Finally figured it out. It was cuase i wasnt using the 2nd vid control voltage.. Its stupid that theres 3 voltage opeions for one cpu and i never used or knew wth that CPU VID Special Control was for and that was the one i didnt set other then auto. I thought as long as i did'nt set startup option to other then auto i was good.
Hell i thought that special control was just for an additional voltage on top of the startup voltage selection.
heh.. All good and i'm currently slappin 3.55v on the vdimm right now. 2x 512MB Corsair BH-5.. The original oldies but goodies!
Runing 260 FSB atm.. Wont do 270 no matter what timings.
How much voltage is safe? 3.8v?
THANKS!!!! Finally i can use that damn 4 vdimm jumper! WHOO HOO!! I'm shocked!
:woot:    :D
Glad to hear you have it sorted out and working :D
Here's a little something to explain the VID controls
Peace :toast:
Nice! Thanks for that.
You da man EMC2, read this yesterday!!! tried it out & now I can actually use the 5V.... Thankyou so,so,so much!!!!
If you really mean it, send me that FX
Glad to hear it helped :D
Peace :toast:
You wish :p:Quote:

Just an update, above jumper config, seems to work fine with 1KW PCP&C SLI psu as well - well so far :)
