Bah when did "xtremesystems" become "my stable 24/7 rig system"
This is xtremesystems guys, when I see a post from the top ocers and they say stable I assume thats bench stable for the top end runs. We need to be realistic. Look where the results are coming from, if they are coming from a 3dmark racer, then you know the stability level, if the results are coming from a D2OLer then you know as well.
I personally need to run 24/7 stable, so this gives me an idea of good stuff to get.
I would also like to mention that when I review memory, the results are what I consider to be 24/7 stable for end users and tested as such to insure to my ability fair and accountable measures. I will run memtest, various benchmarks etc... that I have found to be worthy of stressing the computer to the point that I can be comfortable in my own experience with using those settings for 24/7 gaming. As much as I love overclocking and the art of benchmarking, I'm a gamer too, and I cannot tolerate errors while in a match etc... I hold my review data to that challenge and wouldn't publish figures that I believe would be suspect in stability. I feel a responsibility as a reviewer to do so for the community.
Whereas in benching for fun, it's less about stability and more about raw #'s. To each his own I think and let people have fun and not try to tear down their results just b/c their methodology or rationale for doing things differ from yours. Doesn't make either of your correct, just different.
And variety is the spice of life ;)

If your Winnie can do 2.7GHz you can always try 300x9 div183... It's gonna be the same thing as 270x10, since your Winnie 3000+. Also, was TRC=11 required for 269MHz to pass?

Yes this is a problem where people base their whole decision making process and their EXPECTATIONS on one or two reports from a prominent member. What frustrates me is that they expect to get same results with an often inferior supporting cast(cpu, ps, cooling, experience, etc..)Quote:

Depending on the user, we see different results.
As I see it there are 2 sections people normally fall into:
Overclocking - tweaking 24/7 daily rigs to the max. Buying hardware for daily 24/7 rigs and finding the 'stable' point of it, e.g. passing everything you can throw at it.
Benching - I call this 'fly' overclocking. Grabbing hardware that you take a fancy to at the time, throwing it together and getting the most out of it the best you can. THis involves a lot of 'xtreme' things going on, mainly how to get the benching setup as cold as possible and pushing the last mhz out of the cpu, mem, gpu etc to get your best results. This is mainly the content that is all over the forum which makes this place called XtremeSystems.
Bachus is the 16m / 32m super pi lover and people respect that. He wants to see if the memory or what ever can last the distance. Thats user preference.
Anyways I think this has to get back on track to the great memory call Red something :D

sounds like the ocing capabilities of those new bh5 chips are fluctuating just as much as the old bh5... some do great some dont... so far they seem to be better on average than the old chips though :)
I don't know if 14 is nessasary, I changed so much stuff at once I couldn't tell you. I'll see if 7 works at 271MHz.Quote:

Out of curiosity, what chips does this 'redline' use? I assume its a CH/BH UTT varient, but I cant seem to find the answer.

Do you have anything written down as far as timmings from A64Tweaker or BIOS? Also, how many volts does it take to get there? Is that still 3.5v?
