That is the 3700+ vs the 3800+. So its a 2.2 vs a 2.4. You would think the 2.4 (3800+) should win with the extra clock, but the 1MB cache of the 2.2 (3700+) is enough to make it win in most benches.

If 2.2 > 2.4, then SURELY SD >>> Venice clock for clock. Maybe your SD is jacked up? =(

In the 3700+ vs. 3800+ comparison you linked to both CPU's were run at the same clock speed.

I bought the cpu and intend to overclock it and run it 24/7 at overclocked speed...that's why. I don't give a flying bananna about stock speed, otherwise I would of.....and better off go to Best Buy or CompUSA and pick me up a cheap Dell or something. :rolleyes:

I still think that some components of that system simply do not like the sandy. It happens that certain components just will not run well no matter what. And yeah running both at 200*10 would be a good idea since it definately is a possibility that the sandy is overheating. It could really be many things no way to really find out. All we need is a few other people doing something similar, than we will know for sure.

something is wrong with your super pi results i get 30 seconds with tons of apps running and like 10 web pages running messanger and all that crap at 10x 280 with my 3700sd on my dfi board with my tccd at 2.5-3-3

so i conclude something is wrong with your setup

wasnt he running 2.5-4-3-7 tho?

latency on memory makes a lot of diff to super pi

just except his results, iv read both threads now and until someone else does something simular im not going to argue with him.

Bacon hit the nail!! For those who noticed the low SuperPI 1M score...it wasn't a flaw and there is NO mistake about it, my TCCD was running at 280 @2.5-4-3-7 1T, the rest of the timing setting and parameters can be seen here

Those parameters are something I do not touch regardless what clock speed I'm running at, except for SuperPI and Bandwidth race! Which I'd already achieved my goal at 345 @2.5-4-3-7 1T with the exact same timing you see there.

mimic the exact same clock speed with my exact same timing on your TCCD, then run the exact same version of SuperPI 1M from your Windows XP again, and you will see why the result. ;)

From what ive seen, I wont be getting a Diego anytime soon, if ever. 3dmark is my fav benchmark and you showed me the Venice outperforms the Diego there. I might gain a bit in games with a Diego but it arent worth the $200 difference. I think I may just stick with this 2.45GHz Venice for a very long time since there is nothing better except slightly higher clocks but I arent paying for a 3500+ or 3800+ Venice for another 300MHz more.

I'm still playing with the Mushkin Redline XP4000......so far I'm LOVING it, quite a different experience to run these puppy at 255 @1.5-2-2-5 1T!!

LoL I didn't mean don't overclock. I just meant for the purposes of benchmarking. To not overclock would be taking my life away....

Haha, well.. umm IMO Super Pi has weird results sometimes? You can get quite a bit of fluctuation. Run it a few times and use the best time I guess?

that's the problem....SuperPI 1M crapped out on that Venice at 2.89Ghz, and it can NOT run anything higher than 2.89Ghz without BSOD every few seconds, can do a suicide screen shot with Cpuz at 2.90 that was it. That's why I said that Venice can not pull that kind of stunt like my SD....and I can do SuperPI 1M up to about 2.93Ghz with SD :D :D

Even at cl1.5, you're not gonna shave 3 seconds off your spi time. I'd be surprised if there was even a 2 second gain from 2.5 -> 1.5. I think the only person who may be able to approach 26's @ 2.8 is cpulloverclock. His spi times are the fastest per clock I've seen here. But even at that, I don't think anybody could pull it off - well maybe,.....with a dothan.

no doubt about that....right from the beginning at the other shootout thread I'd already mentioned that my SD needed less vcore to run at the same clock as my brother's Venice, heat load is much higher with the SD but it can tolerate higher heat much better than Venice and Winchester, so the headroom is there and the ceiling is higher....just needed the right tool (phase change) to get me there. And that's the reason why you won't see me returning or selling my SD then go out and grab me a Venice :D :D

I'll will try and see if I can do 26's @2.8....it's a different ball game now that I got the UTT/BH, still have lots of tweaking to do :D

That's not necessarily true. ;) What does your sd top out at and @ what vcore? how about the venice?

the SD can superPI 1M all the way up to about 2.93 @1.71v, Venice can only manage SuperPI 1M at 2.89 regardless what vcore being use.
