hmmmm interesting...
Respect for Berkut for putting in the effort for those benchies to keep our desires satisfied.Good job :toast:

Great results there berkut. Hope to get even more info over the weekend, you know we're a gready bunch...LOL
If i had this for a week and i could do with it whatever i like to you would see MUCH more than a mear 4.6ghz.... Think cascade, vmods etc. ...
interesting smithfield overclocking there. :)
it should pretty much equal to the prescotts since 3dmarks are not multithreaded benchmarks. Same goes to SuperPi - 28sec at 4.6GHz is about equal to s478 P4EE at 4.6GHz.Quote:
I am just waiting for the 3d benchies
So nothing too interesting for the (3D) benchmark freaks.
Clearly a CPU made for people who are running several apps at the same time or who really want to push there VaporPhase coolers to the limits :D
LOL, yes maybe cascades will (have to..?) become mainstream before long..... :DQuote:

As well as 700+ watt PSU's.
Motherboard heat is also a problem. Without double delta 7000rpm's (60mm screamers) on the mosfets and 10C ambient temp. the mobo fells like its almost ready to fall apart. LIterally almost desoldering.
As i said, our 465W BeQuiet psu sounded like a mig wleder at work.
This cpu could do much MUCH more, i can see it. LIttle more volts, better cooling and 4.8ghz wouldnt be any problem.
Actually dual core helps in some cases, if the affinity is set right there are *marginal* improvements but the big guys beat for every single point...
AFAIK 3dmark 2003 and 2005 have ai etc. calculations wich are multithreaded.
NOW, lets see what this little 3.73ghz EE can do :D
3DMark05 and 03 numbers, Prescott vs. Smithfield => here. According to those Dualcore doesn't make any difference.
you have a mini sun in that mobo that amount of heat is insane
I guess i had to little sleep macci... i have to look deeper in to this
Not that huge difference in 3D Benchies between the Smithfield and Prescott.
As said I think the Smithfield is a multi-tasking cpu for office apps etc and not a gamers cpu ;)
Sounds like im going to run away from dual core for a good while if its going to be like this. I think you can kiss goodbye to any real form of overclocking on air, even with deltas screaming away they are gonna be burning.

That's absolutely ridiculous...how hot are the X2's as compared to this chip?
I hope Intel plans on doing something about that before they release this chip, they were having hard enough time marketing the Prescott's to the general public because of how effin hot they were...now look at this!
Regardless, those are nice clocks, good job man! Thanks for workin so hard just so we could poke you to work harder :stick: :toast:
I will tell you tomorrow
Keep on frosting Berkut =)
PCMark04 might give a nice score btw :)
magg i think they are going to sell these chips with triple cascade in retail xD
PICS FROM THE BENCHING SESSION![/url]
:toast: pics :toast:
Cant beat the handy balcony for those low ambients!

Heh, I'm almost happy I got a rev. VapoLS. I'm thinking about getting a X2 A64 though I know they won't be as hot as the 840 it'll still be smokin'.
Good thing I got my PCP&C 510SLi too eh? Can't imagine the friggin' PSU sounding like a TIG welder... jesus....
A Smithfield on LN2 would end up like this
I love that video, awesome site it is from, and who says the engineers dont have fun :D

What a sight :D
Holy crap, WTF did they do to power lines to make em vaporize like that!?
