I wouldnt panic, they can still handle cold from -20c to -50c depending on the cpu. This means only those with cascade or dry ice and the occasional single cascade wont be able to run those new cpus. I wouldnt go out and buy back those 130nm fx55s just try a few diegos if need be till you find one that doesnt mind the cold. Besides who knows, maybe amd is doing it on purpose and will leave the fx chips without the cold bug so those dont get a 3700+ instead of a fx57
I dont think its a factor of binning. This is most likely a physical design issue. One theory that I heard which I found interesting suggested that because SSDOI/DSL/SOI is highly conductive, that below -90 it goes from being a semi-conductor to a SUPER-conductor, ie the CPU no longer functions properly, especially at 90nm more so than 130nm. More or less its a combo of both that is producing such. Im not an engeener tho so I cant comment on it.
Interesting stuff tho. It would be nice to get an official comment from AMD tho

If this is the case, no 90nm cpu is gonna like dry ice or cascade but fortunately single stage should be fine if the cpu doesnt go below about -50c at most. There isnt much difference honestly once you hit -50c you got 3.47Ghz on single stage while the best cascade clocks is maybe 200MHz higher. Cascade can still be used on gpus-maybe. If not then they can be used for other experments or just taken apart and build single stagers with em. Records will countinue to be broken, especially as amd improves their yields.
it cant be 90nm itself, its got to be something with AMDs design because intel uses 90nm for prescott and they have no cold bug whatsoever
