What RAM is that? If you dont burn in your comp properly before OC it will get more power hungry after a while. Tried setting your mem voltage above 3v? usually helped with the sticks i have tried.
Too bad really, if you cant work it out :(

Samsung original CTL, 256 Mbyte. Over six months old and I'm not ready to try it at higher volts since only a few have been successful in running it at higher volts without killing the bandwidth. The memory did fine in a kr7a and kx7 prior to installation in this board so I don't suspect it to have gone bad but will need to wait until next week to test it in another board.
I suspect the memory controller/chipset at this point but I don't really know.
As an aside, the box is in an unheated room, temps currently -7 Celsius :), so heat is not a problem. Nice, dry cold here.
ah good old Samsung :)
If im not mistaken Mackanz ran his Samsung CTL above 3volts and it went mad, clocking all the way up to 202mhz max timings on his KX7. I would try higher, you just say "Aah, what the heck!" and go for it. Wouldnt hurt you to see if it works? :)
Good luck
Only problem is, a few have reported that upping the volts on Samsung made it run great, and others have seen voltage increases ruin bandwidth.
In the other kd7-e thread, I posted a SS showing 3200 Sandra mem bandwidth at 208 FSB on this board. I got similar performance with the stick at 2.75 volts on the kr7a. I'm debating whether it's worth the potential loss of bandwidth to push this stick on the kd7-e or simply return it to my kr7a.
My recently purchased Twinmos DDR400 from hardwaregods is on loan to a friend. That stick likes volts so I'll probably wait 'til it comes back from him :)
Boy...that's a real bummer. Sounded like that mobo was smokin fast out of the gate. Sorry to hear of this. I'll be keeping a closer on mine...no trouble so far though.
Good luck on the RMA.
Still a nicely featured board, I like it! :)
Perhaps I ran it up too fast, or it wants different memory, CPU or whatever. I'll try a few more times with it before RMA. The voltage stability and the initial bandwidth shows real promise for this board.
That sux about your board.
Some how my bios got messed and it would not even boot if i used the 1/5 divider.I installed the newer bios and it fixed it back the way it was.
Well I turned the pot all the way down and it still was too hot o put my finger on for more then 5 seconds. So I just turned the pot half way up to give me a stable 12.04v and 5.24v, plugged in the ATX2, dropped the vcore to 1.975, put the fans back up and hope for the best. if it blows hopefully it only takes the motherboard with it
guys, im having problems with this board, when i shut off my machine and turn it back on, it wont POST at all...and this goes on for 20-30 minutes then it POST. Any way to fix this?
Turn it back off and pull the plug on the power supply until the light on the board goes off then plug it back in and try again. I,ve had 2 KR7's, an AT7, and now my KD7 that all do this.Quote:

Were do you get the newer bios?
The bios i used was off the Abit site.It had the c8 and i used the cs.
i already did that...still happensQuote:

Hey guys. I just deleted my previous post recommending "using the new KD7E BIOS". I double checked which one I have been using with great success and is indeed the C8. I have both BIOSes (C8 and CS) on floppies and had been going back and forth between them for testing....for some reason I assumed the C8 was the newer version (prolly cause it works best for me). I guess I didn't pay attention close enough...my bad.
Anyway, I flashed to the CS again this morning based on what has been recently discussed on this thread. I had trouble right off the bat. The system did not want to reboot. It would post in after a clear CMOS, but after I amde any changes, it would no longer post. It didn't do that the last time I had flashed to it. Kinda wierd...but maybe similar to drozdov's problem.
Anyway...I 've been flyin with the C8 for the last week and that is where I'm gonna stay. Although there may be others who have used the CS with success, it has not proven out in my experience.
Sorry about the confusion:slap:
EDIT: You can get both BIOSes HERE
im using the C8 bios and it does that..
Hmmm...strange. I'll dig around and see what I can find out.
Can you try something....After a clear CMOS and first okay boot, change just the CPU choice under the SoftMenu iii page by selecting the right auto choice for you cpu and then see if you can reboot okay. If you can, try changing only one thing at a time and see if you can narrow down which change borks the reboot.
Try clearing the cmos, going into the bios, telling it NOT to save settings and reboot, to see if it will restart. I bet it does. Then Clear it, go in and immediately hit f-10 to save settings even though you've changed nothing and reboot. I bet it will not restart showing that any act of saving anything is the issue. If I'm wrong I,ll by an Xbox and throw away all my computers!!! Just kidding, but I bet it does what I said.

uhh, when i clear cmos, the computer doesnt POST...its on but doesnt POST
Sorry, I thought it would post after clearing it but wouldn't post after going in and setting up. My mistake.

Yeah...this is the usual problem I've seen.Quote:

Not being able to post at all after a CMOS clear seems more like a set up problem or a bad piece of hardware.
yah that bad piece of hardware is the KD7-E, tried it with my 8k5a2+ and no problems
Bummer:(
I've been beating the crap out of this KD7-E I have here and haven't had a hiccup except using the CS BIOS. Sorry to hear of your trouble:(
I don't like the new bios much either. When i tried to OC last night i was having the same problems of it not wanting to post after i changed settings. So far the enhance for benchmark seems to help stablize it but i gave up after clearing the cmos so many times my fingers were sore.I think i'll switch back to the c8 and try a little later.

Please keep me posted on how you think the C8 compares to the CS. I'd like to build a consensus of which one is best.
Droz, i have a similar problem when i set the RAM voltage too high(havent burned the stick in at higher than 3.05 yet), when i reboot,it wont post, and i have to shut it of with the power switch on the PSU and then reboot again. Then its all fine.
Was running at 200x9.5 all weekend, but i didnt take any screens because i was at a LAN party, was busy playing CS and helping others(tech crew of course :D ) 3100 sandra mem or something like that :)
