chilly1, do you build those cascades yourself?
and PS: YGPM
Lost, yes the temp probe was installed before the mesh.
Thanks Fugger. I had seen where that idea came up a couple of weeks ago and now I see he has implemented it into his builds.
These things just keep getting better and better.
Chilly1
Can these be installed on a mobo that's in a V2000? I'm in need of a solution that will work with a upside down mobo.
Thanks
it should be able to work since the block is round and u can rotate the mounting kit.....
Cascade insulation guide being posted soon. I will use some pictures from this thread as some steps are repetitive.
Great... I should get some tips from both threads about Dry Ice Insulation.
The DI tubes Ive got though actually taper off at the bottom. The base is just the right size to fit over a CPU and not much more. Its a circular base, not a square or rectangle. Straight tubes, like the Chilly1 tubes but these taper off at the bottom to the base.
Main concern would be contact between the neophrene around the tube and the neophrene around the socket. I'l draw a little diagram in paint to explain. Will create a new thread about it, if its getting in the way in this one.
Can i just ask, as im pretty confused here with this, thing is it all looks so simple, just slap it on and tighten the nuts.........is sealstring required for 24/7 in a case on the front as well or what?
If you have seal string then I would suggest using it. You can never be too carefull when it comes to protecting your hardware from moisture.
I agree... I insulated a LOT of stuff, and its not rare that you have condensation even if you think you have well insulated...
My recommendations are only to be sure the surrounding and about 2cm larger each sides are insulated and air tight. And then double check if you can not add something for better insulation....
I'm kinda worried about the memory there. It looks like its being pushed on. Would a smaller foam donut help that out a great deal? Or just use a bigger one and include the RAM ;) j/k.
Eric
well seems here's everything i need for tomorrow prommi action without killing my good hardware :)
but i will need lots of seal string. i just tested a little bit unload and my evap sides freezed...~1cm of seal string was needed until i had no more water there.
thanks for all the tips - now i finally know how i can protect my board backside correctly with sealstring.
Is there a local hardware supply replacement for seal string?? Easy to find?
I heard of one somewhere on a forum... did a search and didn't turn up anything.
Would be a big help to the newbies (me) and everyone else. :help:
can we also apply a layer of liquid tape around the cpu socket and on the back to prevent condensation and keep moisture out as well?
liquid tape? Never heard of that. It's is similar to seal string?
Have there been any cases of people getting kits with threads way too short? I can't install mine :(
star brite makes it. liquid electrical tapeQuote:

I've ordered some from CrazyPC. They seem to have the best price.

Just a follow up, I have been using the chilly1 insulation kit with di-electric grease and it hasn't given me any condensation issues on a -90C to -100C cascade.
I like the fact that there are no heaters, adding extra heat right next to the CPU really defeats what you are trying to do.
I put dielectric grease in the socket, a very thin layer on the back of the board, and a very thin layer on the top of bottom of the neoprene O ring. I also coovered the legs of a few chips that were near the cpu because the mobo was getting so cold those chips started getting moisture on them even though they were out of the sealed area.
I use nail polish. Works great, and comes off good with Acetone.Quote:

very nice guide fugger
:toast:
nail polish... i remember using it in the PMMX and later P2 days when temps. dropped below 0C on TEC's...
