well there's due to be new hardware released at the ATI oc'in festival this weekend in Dallas...exciting new hardware no-one has seen before, apparently.
Wouldn't it be awesome for macci and the guys to get a card that can power a p4@4.3ghz to 40k...it must have some real power behind it.
Just for reference, as people seem to be getting confused
R500 is a more advanced chip than R520
R520 is not a cut down version of R500.

It arent anything from current tech, it arent an x850xt in any form. Hes playing it safe and not even gonna confirm its an ati card but its almost certainly one for many reasons. I still say its an r520 and its got a huge performance lead over x800xt, why would anyone still pay $500 for an x800xt if the r520 is so much faster
so you are saying dont upgrade now / if you are buying a new rig dont splurge on VC?
I don't care how fast xdr ram is, and it's not *that* much faster, isn't it about 1.6ghz or something? thats only 500mhz faster than current gddr3. Why would anyone think that a 512mb version of the x850 give you 10k+ in 3dmark01. I think the inquierer is a good site and all, but I don't know where they get this stuff from.
I don't believe the card that made that score is a x850xt with 512mb...

4.7GHz of p4ee and 770/688 gpu clocks for 36469 vs. 4.3GHz p4ee and mystery gpu at stock(!) for 40145, this is nearly 3.7k higher. It is highly unlikley that his 4.3ee is faster than that 4.7ee. I dont even know about both being equal, can fsb and ram bandwith make up that much difference? Even if so, where do we get the extra 3.7k marks from? Nature of course! We would be talking 500+ nature. The other tests would be 100% cpu bound except maybe drag low but the gains in drag low would be minimal at best.
Now what is capable of 500+ in nature? 6800gt/u in SLI is one possibility but its out NOW and doesnt count as prototype testing. Could ati be expermenting with AMR already? Could AMR be on x850xt? I was under the impression its too late to have AMR on x850xt because those dont support it from the get go. Thus the only conclusion left is its a gpu NEWER than the x850xt. If this is the case, I can only drool at how powerful that gpu is(especially if hes using only ONE) Hes beating a p4ee clocked 400MHz higher in a VERY cpu intensive benchmark. Feel free to add your comments."
Look, lets face it, apart from FUGGER how many other webmasters can get a good score on 3dmark ? Certainly nowhere near the top of the ORB without a lot of help from the hardware. They have the 3dmark benching skills of a dead halibut. Colin Sun from PC STATS is good, Rys from Hexus could be if he was bothered and the top web guy is of course FUGGER as mentioned earlier.

i think The R500 will be more advanced because the R520 doesnt have to answer to the NV60 in the PS3 but the R500 in the XBOX NEXT does. Remember, Microsoft doesnt want Sony outpacing its console by leaps and bounds just because Sony will release its third gen console almost 6 months later.
But that said, the next AMR capable card will fry both :D !!!

I still dont buy the fact the r500 would be more advanced else it would cost way to much to put in consols. also consols have less cpu power, it would be completely cpu limited so no use putting such a powerful gpu, especially since TV's run 640x480, no aa/af and blurry. This is why I prefer PC games by far. They may just use a scaled down 16 pipe verson with 128 bit ram and low clocks= much cheaper

could be highly overclocked and it just may be, those are too unbelievable to be stock
I don't think it is that far fetched. They already have the K4J55323QF-GC14 memory ( http://www.samsung.com/Products/Semi...K4J55323QF.htm ) So it's just 200 MHz more :confused:

The thing that strikes me as odd is the name of the card, X950XT. Surely the new Ati is likely to be called X900Pro, X900XT, X900XT PE and the 950 is saved for the Q4 refresh as per the X8nn series ?
The console R500 is more advanced because it has unified pixel and vertex shaders AFAIK and this is probably easier to test in the controlled environment of a console rather than on a PC with different operating systems and software. Once it is mature on r500 then the successor to r520 will get hand me downs.

Whatever goes into the XBox is likely to be a development from the initial R400 paltform. The R300 guys are heading up R520, but the R&D is unified across all sites, so although the R300 guys are primarily developing R520 they are likely to drw in technology already developed for fpr R400/500 to use in R520 -- at the moment I'm not expecting R520 to utilise a unified shader architecture, though, whilst I am for the XBox2 (R500) - thats all subject to change though!"

hmm i cant understand this talk of the r500 been better chip thna the r520, wouldnt it make more sense for them to make the 520 more advanced swince they aint gunna be charging like £500+ for xbox but they are for just the r520based card? What happens if ATi hold back on the r520 and then the next NV chip comes along and demolishes it and then they relaise they were dumb sh*ts to put the better chip in a console? How many people are botherd about the performance of a console anyways? ive never seen a ps2 kick out a 3dmark score have you?
Anyone looked at the screenshot? Is it real or not ?
If it's real it has to be a FX-57 or something? It has SSE3 support and 1MB cache en is running 200Mhz's faster then FX55....
Anyone can confirm it's real ? Dno about the graphics card... X950XT is FASTEST next gen card? X900Pro, X900XT, etc.... will all be slower?
