Thanks Marquzz! :p:
Anyone know how tall are the G.Skill TCCD and OCZ VX? I'm on a dilemma here (HSF related, not RAM) ;) :D

well..OCZ 3200 plat rev2 is exactly 3cm tall, incl. spreaders and pins. Dont know about other modules tho.
I happen to have the DFI NF4 Ultra-D and OCZ VX memory and it fits nicely with the XP-120's pipes facing the gfx card.
At first I have populated DIMM slots 1 and 3 and got a message in the BIOS saying that if I want dual channel I should use 2 and 4! Nice one I though. Also just to make sure while running 1 and 3, I run memtest and yep, they were in single channel.
@ Anakin :
Thank you very much :toast:
i was wainting for that !!
Could some of you guys take a rule and measure the height of your RAM ??
That would be quiet nice.
Maybe we could make a list for compatible and not compatible ram for DFI nF4 and XP120

In whole the XP120 is quite a hindrance in part removing... not to mention it is difficult enough to remove the hsf itself. Was happy with my Zalman 7000Cu, just could not resist an 120mm fan!
EDIT: joe smith, it would be impossible to install several corsair pro modules in conjuction with XP120 since it overhangs dimm 4.
I would stay away from them anyway... :toast:
@ Anakin :
I've already read that it is impossible to use most of the corsair Dimms cause of the heatsink.
I'm lucky that i didn't want to buy corsair :D
I was thinking of g.skill or ocz vx (what else ????)
I wanted to buy the following stuff :
A64 3500+
DFI nF4 SLI Dr
1024Mb RAM ???
His X850xt IceQ II Toxic
XP-120
...
What ram would you guys recommend ? (that fits under the xp-120)
I'm not going to do heavy overclocking.
~ 2,5Ghz should be enough for my purposes, so i think the ram should have good timings (2.0-2-2-5) up to at least 240Mhz
I did not want to use the 5v rail for the ram, so the ram should not eat more than 3,2V.
hrmm...maybe ill just go for the xp-90 then. thanks anakin.
Since you want to go up to 250HTT and use the 10x multi, then why not get a 3200+ Winnie? Perhaps you might be lucky enough and get 10x270 out of your memory... then I think in your case VX memory is the most appropriate one. Also get at least 1GB and don't think about anything less than that.Quote:

good recommendation anakin, was thinking the same..
so just to clarify, a XP120 with;
1gig ocz vx in slot 2-4
x850xt pe
DFI NF4 SLI- DR
should b okay ? if not Hyper6 better than XP90 ? is it okay for hyper6 weight beign tilted sideways on mobo ?
So they won't fit in 2,4 with the XP-120?Quote:

sauria, they will fit in slot 2 & 4 if you dont have very "tall" ram ie more than 40mm.
I grabbed the best of this thread and stuck it here.
Mem that does fit would be handy though :)
Thanks googles & split, I'm thinking of getting this RAM on a new system

but don't know how tall the OCZ VX DIMMS are.
well anakin has already said that the vx fits in slot 2 & 4 with xp-120 (pipes facing gfx) so there you go.
i have the vx too so ill be getting the xp-120 in a couple of days...now i have to decide which fan to mate with the xp-120 :D
good luck mate
Thanks so much!
So I guess the xp120 fits well on the DFI NF4 Ultra-D if you have the heatpipes facing the graphics card? Just wondering, I am interested in getting this heatsink, but is it worth getting over my Zalman CNPS-7000Al-Cu? Was it hard to install the xp120?
I've owned a zalman 7000cu in the past and I must say that it was much easier to install it and uninstall it than with this xp120. Performancewise the xp120 is better, but then again you could get a zalman 7700cu (weights about 1Kg). Overall the change over a Zalman CNPS-7000Al-Cu won't be breathtaking unless you use a Delta 120mm fan on your xp120 :2cents:Quote:

Read this.
The prob with the zalman is you are limited to the max speed of the fan (not much).
If you want good cooling at high overclocks that might be a problem, so in theory the xp120 is far more flexible as it can easily take faster fans.
I just found this thread,Quote:

Anandtech, "Official" DFI nF4 Ultra-D / SLI-DR Thread
There is a link there where you can see a Zalman 7700cu fited on the DFI,

;) or i ought to buy an zalman7700?
thanks
jeebus, that comes CLOSE to the memory. Glad i got my XP-120
Here are my specs:
DFI NF4 Ultra DR-SLI W/BIOS ?
AMD64 4000+ (San Diego)
Thermalright XP-120 CPU HSF w/ Thermaltake 120mm fan
OCZ DDR 500 Gold VX 4000 (512x2)
BFG 7800 GTX OC
74 GB WD Raptor SATA
OCz Modstream 520w PSU
NEC 16X DVD Writer
Lian Li PC65B Case
Win XP Home SP2
These parts are in transit to my house, I'm curious about how to install this and if everything will be compatible in relation to my graphics card / heatsink / ram.
Which picture (how should I install my heatsink) should I follow to ensure premier performance from my computer?
