But as said before, it looks like the nForce4 4X is A2 and the ultra might be A3. Im just assuming but sure does look that way as most users of the nForce4 4X all have A2 chip.

thats why its called the 4x, 4x htt not 5x as it could be. But again, thats not an issue at all. Any board without the 4x in the name should be a a3 chipset board capable of 1000Mhz HT speeds. Looks like all the voltage on memory scare issues people managed to push out as a rumour when like 3 whole ath 64's died has finally been squashed, with the ultra version of this board having up to 3.1vdimm, asus has 3 or 3.1vdimm on their boards. For both of those manu's that is very high vdimm even talking pre ath 64 rumours. nice to see, finally.
the only issue with the gigabyte board is no dual bios, with how freaking irritating clearing cmos is on gigabyte boards(no jumper, power, power cable out, batt out for quite a while sometimes needed, then reverse order), is a bit too much skimping on their part.
Damn, i was on the way to order the K8NF-9 after reading the thread but i is sold out. But K8NXP-9 is in stock in the same shop.
Anyone aware what the vdimm option will be on the MSI Diamond/NF4 SLI Platinum and/or DIF SLI? Also the vcore?
hopefully dfi will keep roughly the same voltage options, they seem much more aware of who buys there boards and what they want. MSI i'm guessing 1.85vcore, 2.85vdimm, as with all their boards for a while. THough they've gone mad in the past, their canterwood had 2.4vcore(for p4's remember, nuts), 3.4vdimm, so they might go a little higher.
How much price diff in the states is the k8nxp-9 from the k8nf-9 ? here its like £120/£68, so for only vdimm that i want its not worth it, the dula power thing is useless and half the time none working boards work fine when you remove the extra power module(from working in shop that deals with returns ;) ).
1. Which shop was that at?Quote:

The following is from Gigabyte's site for this motherboard:
NVIDIA nForce4 4X MCPs (media and communication processors)
Super I/O: ITE IT8712 chip
chaintech arrived today
will try to get up and runnig later

Pull off the NB cooler yet?

You know how everybody is hunting for the latest and greatest NB? There's more to it than higher HTT speeds. I bet those A3 chips are going to be VERY new.
I see 1.75V in the Giga bios for v-core. What IC does it use for the core voltage? Just wondering if there will be a easy v-core mod for this mobo.Quote:

I would look Chaintech's results yet :D.

p.s. The Gigabyte have 1000 or 800 HTT?
Compliments of Jason:DQuote:

I'm putting gigabyte in one of my prometias :)
LOL, I see giga is back in stock at newegg. Maybe I should give them another shot?Quote:

Here in Aus we have a ETA mid of Jan, i was going to stay away from NF4 until it matures but...
The great thing about DFI that theres quick responce for beta bios updates in DIF Street forums to keep us overclockers happy as ive heard.
Ive had all sort of problems with Neo2 and it took me 3 boards to get where im satisfied, hopefully thats not going to be the case with the next pick...DIF/MSI NF4
John, where did you go? we want some phase results! I'm going to rma my VNF4 and wait a bit. what are you going to do?
I'm trying to work with semi hosed os
I got FX55 on phase @3ghz or so, but 3dmark2k1 only improves like a few hundred pts. may need to reinstall OS as going back and forth to Chaintech really borked me
did you plug drive right into the vnf4? I had to reinstall, but didn't need to do F6 load drivers from floppy crap. I just let it roll and winxp installed fine. is nf4 native sata?Quote:

You don't need to reinstall OS. Just the motherboard chipset drivers again.
Great performance a lot better than the A8N SLI:

i know, but try going back and forth, see what happens :pQuote:
