You mean doing something wrong with the flash process?
Right, they thought they flashed it correctly, then saw they still had 12 pipes and said doh, it doesn't work. :D
A thought came in my mind... Do you think guys that GigaByte X800Pro card will OC / perform better after the flash than other brands? (Because of the Gigabyte BIOS) BTW Gigabyte's stock cooler owns all others :D
Don't think so. I think its based on a ati bios only with some minor ajustments.Quote:

Well I just recieved my Club3D X800Pro Vivo and I discovered that the babe on the cooler was actually a sticker. I removed it and behold The Tauren :D saying Ati Radeon. Just like those review models, so no X800 on the cooler. I even have a purple power connector.
Now it looks like this:

I made a backup of the original bios, flashed the gigabyte one followed by the X800XT PE bios. And everything is working smooth, 520/560Mhz no artifacts.
It doesn't look like a VIVO
=STE=BloodAngel,
I think that's the same sticker underneath my my second one.
That card is the exact same card as mine. Just add a fake "brand's" sticker on top & there you have it, a Sapphire/PowerColor etc X800.
On a diff topic, I just vmodded my card & tested it.
So far at 1.5vgpu & 2.1vdd.
Add the extra volts & still no higher than I was before.
Might give it a bit more time to "burn in" before I hand it more volts.
artifacts galaore here when I try any more than 600/600.
Bummer. Need a 3rd one... Just got rid of my 9800XT & am stuck with a GF4 MX440 SE... Hot Damn!!
Thinking hard bout getting another one or whether to wait it out for a proper X800XT PE & hope that it'll OC better as this one ain't doing so good.
On water too, 38C is all I've seen so far after a benching seesion but still no good for any higher OC's...
Oh well, at least I got an X800XT PE huh??
Cheers,
Minnyboy
Mariachi,
Only VIVO/X800XT have that yellow connector near the 12v one.
Just have a look closely at your card.
That was msiing from my first X800Pro
So what is the Purpule connector on that PowerColor X800PRO VIVO?

If I'm understanding you at all Mariachi it's the YELLOW connect that signifies the VIVO cards
seems like mostly all brands mod, however, what brand clocks better?
Atm I can only see a PowerColor available in the UK for £298.
Theres a x800pro for £260 here, but they can't be flashed can they?
Think I might pick up one of these cards if the mods are looking as good as this when I wanna buy, do these beat the 6800GT's or are they worth getting over this?
Bloodangel, can you run atitool and see what your max core and mem are without artifacts. I could run 520/560 on my Club3d x800 pro vivo flashed to xt pe no probs gaming, but atitool says different and keeps pushing it back down to 490/550. Eventually bumped it up to 1.45v for 520/560 stable with atitool.
Oh ye also. Does it have to actually say, "VIVO" cause I see some cards saying, DVI VO.
Again, is one of these cards @ 16 pipelines a worthwhile purchase over a 6800GT?
Yes it does have to say VIVO.Quote:

DVI VO is only the "normal" X800Pro.
If you see DVI, TO, VI then it's VIVO.
DVI, TO (TV out), VI (video in).
As for atitool, the majority of the times, atitool will underclock your card by so much it ain't funny.
I suggest running FarCry, UT2004 or any graphics intensive games for an hour or 2. If it artifacts then downclock your card, if not, it should be okay.
Nothing like real-world testing to find the limits of your OC.

Minnyboy
Sapphire x800 VIVO....worked for me. :D
Haven't checked clocks yet, I ran it up with 12 pipes and hit 540/562 individually in AtiTool. 16 pipes should bring that lower I'd think. FWIW, original bios, gb bios, and xt bios all measured 1.39V core and 2.0V mem while in Windows.
edit to add: runs XT clocks just fine, but not much more with the stock cooler. I'll try to find time to fix that over the weekend.
Another PowerColor X800Pro comin 2morrow.
Hopefully it'll clock a bit better than my first VIVO.
US$497. Not bad considering they're retailing here for US$541.
That's AUS$685 compared to AUS$745 that they're selling for Australia wide.
Looking forward to add another one to the succesfully flashed list.
Cheers,
Minnyboy
I got my Club3D X800Pro Vivo for 435 Euro's, don't know how the Euro compares to the Dollar nowadays.
Got my Club3D X800Pro VIVO today :), jumped directly to flashing the board, and it worked! :0).
It's running real nice at X800XT stock speeds, wont try to overclock before i mount a watercooling system on it.
Do you think sometime ATi will detect these moddable cards and core-lock them? So we won't be able to mod them even if they're VIVO?
I guess its just a case of getting the cash now, I'll report back when I decide on what card to pickup. I'm curious of the gigabyte card.
Yeah, i'm gonna pick that GigaByte... much bigger stock cooler thna all other PRO's... (and the flash bios is GigaByte's, so maybe better clocks? just superstitions... ;))
X800 Pro w/ VIVO bios thanks to GazC.
Got myself a new card as I said in my earlier post.
Got home, put it in & tested it to run at X800XT speeds.
It ran alright so I rebooted & flashed the bios.
Instead of keeping the 4A49 (X800Pro) or 4A50 (X800XT) ASIC number, it changed it to 4A48 which I think is an X800SE bios.
No matter what I did, it wouldn't change the ASIC number to 4A50.
Even flashing to my "good" X800ProVIVO bios would change the ASIC number to 4A48.
With the 4A48 number, booting into WinXP & trying to re-install 4.7's would give me an error saying that the card is not supported.
I haven't checked the codes on the core or to see if there's the tell-tale laser-cut between the bridges. Don't know whether I should or not as I wanna return the card.
Straight from the Distributor so I assume it's a brand new card, just off the production line.
So be careful, these new ones are NOT flashable to X800XT imho.
Another thing to note is that the 4 memory modules on the GPU side are 2ns ones whereas the 4 on the backside are 1.6ns ones.
WTF!!
This sucks !!! but which card was it? PowerColor?
