also for some reason you loose 5x ldt with the locks enabled(check sandra). you still get 5x unlocked but even set to x5/1000 in bios with the locks enabled its dropped for 4x so its a bios issue or its been deliberatly added.
Charlie did you try 300ht with a 3x ldt? that may be where your stability went.

and yes, I hit 330mHz FSB earlier today with ldt at 2x, only for show, though...it takes quite a performance hit.

If someone has a board with NO LOCKS, just send me some high rez pic's and I'll compare to find the missing resistors.... just take 4 or 5 pic's covering logical areas on board :DQuote:

Aparantly sales have taken place in europe(UK and Germany) but there shouldn't be any boards available in the US. There is a lock issue but not all boards are effected..so you may get lucky.

Charlie. I think you need to start a data base and compile a list of boards that have the lock that works and ones that don't.
We also need hi res pics of boards to find where the 2 resistors are missing that enable the lock.
Macci 1005.020 is a PCI lock bios, your board must be an early one with the resistors missing, once we find where the missing components are and what value you should be able to mod it to lock.
So say I was running a gig of Corsair XL at 2-2-2 say 220MHz. What memory divider most likely would I be running?
12 x 220 = 2640, 1:1 on AIR works nice :D But it may be interesting to test 10 x 265 = 2650, 5:3..........

The Gigabyte boards (K8N, K8N Pro, K8NNXP, K8NS Pro) I've used haven't killed a single CPU and I've had Vdimm up to 3.87V. its normally 3.66V - 3.7V for benching.

could someone take voltage readings of legs 3-4-5 of the RT917B3 chip
Im thinking middle leg 3 should read that of your 3.3v rail and leg 4 should read 1/2 of Vin or leg 1 "vdimm read point"
if leg 3 reads that of leg 1 then maybe the other LM324 is regulating Vin from the 3.3v rail before it hits RT9173b thus your limited to VIN and not of that from your 3.3v rail.
the sk8v used the Lm324+r9173b "but"
leg 3 of r9173b was that of your 3.3v rail
so if leg 3 is not that or "real" voltage set by Lm324 in the corner that might be the issue..
so what Im getting at here is if leg 3 is not that of your 3.3v rail the r9173b chip is setting output based on leg 3 so what I would do is take a direct 3.3v wire from the PSU and connect it to leg 3 of rt917b3 thus your VIN voltage should now be able to go .2v below your VIO/3.3v rail

Mine is a 45MG0F... and it does NOT support the lock. If i set this option in the 1005.021 BIOS then the Board will not boot.
Tell me what pictures you need and i will send you, so you can compare if there are some resistors missing.

I really don't know, but the missing resistors MAY be near the NB, so let's just say the area from the agp slot to the socket, to the dimms to the usb ports...
To me it seems as was theorized earlier, all pre-OJ boards do NOT have functioning locks, in addition, ALL UK + EU boards have not worked...'

they where given this board so it would run faster to compete with the MSI which at that time of review did support the locks.
I think the older boards with the not so good chipsets needed more voltage in areas to hold the locked or asysnc bus freq.
again you would have to try it and see couldnt hurt really
so with that mod i have my locks ??

first you have to know what the value is on that SM resistor.... and THG article didn't specifically say that mod was for locks....
