well i managed to jerry rig one of my 120x38mm delta 190cfm fans to cover my X800Pro stock card at a 45 degree angle... at full fan speed it's looking pretty good :)
before
idle GPU temp = 32-34C
load GPU temp = 66C
after
idle GPU temp = 29-31C
load GPU temp = 49C
ATI Tool find max core 1st heat up phase:
without fan = 51C
with fan = 40C
looks very promising indeed :D
update: here's what a 190cfm delta fan can do for ya
no fan = 64C at this heat up phase
with fan = 41C at same heat up phase point

eva2000, broken pins trying to put it in the Vapo with all that white goop hiding the pins & socket killed 1 of them, 1 more was killed by condensation. The pin literally fell off:mad:
Oh yeah, one more 2.4c dead because ot that SNDS. Had it for 4 hours priming away at 289fsb 1.6v (stock cooler) & then rebooted & it didn't post... Luckily I was able to RMA it because it was only so many hours old & got a 2.6c in return as that was the last of the 2.4c's available (L321 as welll)...
Nothing beats a 2.6c I had that I broke the pins off just taking the stock cooler off. CPU went flying as I had to use a bit off force taking it off the bottom of the hsf & that was the end of it. Literally the first install as well.
Learned real hard, my 9800xt had an SMD capacitor knocked off by a screwdriver as I was taking the hsf off one time too.
I must be one of the unluckiest fellas when it comes to hardware.
Enough of my sob stories, have you got 30K yet??
stuck cpu to heatsinks yeah had that happen i use a 5 cent piece and insert it between the gap the cpu pcb has and the heatsink and flip the coin up slight dislodging the cpu from heatsink :)
cat 4.5 is the one giving the 3d2k1 boost but somehow it's locking my GPU to 553mhz any higher it freezes in nature
change to cat 4.6 and 564mhz like originally is fine and loops 3dmark2001 nature with no probs.. but 4.6 lower 3dmark2001 with 564mhz than 4.5 with 553mhz ???
eva2000,
You tried using x800xt bios yet??
It helped me a bit. Not quite sure what it does but I gained a bit from it...
As for the CPU that could fly, I used a flathead screwdriver & put a bit too much force on it. After picking it up off the floor I noticed one side all bent & whilst trying to straighten them, one of the pins decided to become my friend. That or it was trying to poke my eye out..
If you got the fan blowing on your VC, it shouldn't lock up on ya...
I did notice that I'm able to OC just that bit more with the 4.6's but because I'm using the X800XT bios, it sometimes gives me troubles.
Might be time to WC the card.... 30k for sure then.
How's about trying that method I mentioned earlier, just keep re-running the tests that score the lowest w/out closing the app.
Don't know why I keep buying these expensive cards lol, only thing I use them for is the odd UT2004, WarCraft III & watching the scenery in FarCry... That happens like once every month or 2...
The most straing the card takes is when I decide to give it a bench run or 99% of the times I strain it out posting & browsing the web... You think I can kil my card like that?:D (jk)
Cheers,
Minnyboy
haven't tried the X800XT flash yet... worried about that VIVO thingy and not being able to disable it in time or worse yet forgetting about it when restoring a ghost image with no drivers and letting windows boot heh
wait until someone figures away to edit / alter bios X800XT to disable VIVO hehe
i'll go back to the limiting cat 4.5 now.. tried the cat 4.6 even with fan blowing on it and 569/611 only get 29770-29900 while cat 4.5 even at 553/605 hits 29930-29990!!
if someone can figure out why cat 4.5 seems to lock my core at 553 that would be awesome!
Here it is folks aided by a 120x38mm Delta 190cfm fan as well totally artifact free!
Gecube X800Pro @ 553/618 = 30,082
stock heatsink, no mods just plain air cooling :)

congratulations
Thanks
well not content with 32nd spot on the ORB, decided to move up a place to 31st hehe
the 190cfm delta fan really cools the mem to go higher without artifacting!
Gecube X800Pro @ 555/621 = 30,113

temps are cooler but as to whether it's reduced enough to get more fsb out of a cpu is yet to be seen
with 3.2EE@234fsb at 1.7-1.72v vcore real
3.2EE
typical wattage = 92W
Max wattage = 109W
so total heat output = 130W - 153.5W
before mod:
cpu idle = 37C
cpu load = 47C
system idle = 24C
system load = 24-26C
corsair display = 27.5-28.5C
after mod with fan speed set at medium speed (145cfm out of 190cfm)
cpu idle = 36C
cpu load = 46C
system idle = 28C
system load = 28-29C
corsair display = 25.5-26.5C
where system is open desktop so system temp roughly equals room ambient temps!
so at 4C higher ambient temps cpu load and idle temp is still 1C cooler so approx 1-5C cooler overall
so
before
cpu load delta from ambient = 23C
23/153 = 0.15 C/W
after
cpu load delta from ambient = 18C
18/153 = 0.118 C/W
Well an update...
Yesterday, I finally decided try out a 3rd party heat sink and went for the Thermaltake Giant3 since so many X800Pro users over at OCAU forums are using it.
But!, no one warned me how bloody sharp the inside of the front Giant3 heatsink was  I went to pick up the front heatsink of the Gaint3 and the bloody inside sharp edges of the heatsink ripped into my finger - cutting 1cm x 1cm 'L' shaped gash into my typing finger :( My finger didn't stop bleeding for a full 5 mins
Decided to do the heatsink change another day for fear of cutting open my other fingers LOL
Fast forward to today. This time being extra careful handling the Giant3 heatsink, I managed to install it on my Gecube X800Pro and my god have the temps dropped even compared to my 128x38mm Delta 190cfm fan!
This is the progression:
stock heatsink
GPU Idle: 34-36C
GPU Load: 60-66C
190cfm fan with stock heatsink
GPU Idle: 28-30C
GPU Load: 44-48C
TT Giant 3 with ceramique paste
GPU Idle: 27-29C
GPU Load: 40-45C
The core had white type of paste on it already when I lifted the stock heatsink ?? The core numbers:
Gecube X800Pro
R420
215RAACGA11F
GB8812.1
0419AA
Taiwan
Will bench now to see if 5 minutes of bleeding was worth it LOL
Edit: here's my first full run using the old 2.8C@ stock 200fsb with Gecube X800Pro oc'd with 4.7beta drivers :)
Gecube X800Pro @ 603/603 = 12,660

evo,
Have you modded your x800pro to 16 pipes yet? I have modded my Gecube x800pro to 16 pipes, but could only reach 11K on 3Dmark03. I only have Athlon3200+. Your benchmarks are really impressive if you only have 12 pipes! It makes me want to change my system to Intel...
natz, what core numbers did your Gecube X800Pro have ? i haven't tried the 16pipe mod probably won't as i don't want to rock the boat too much seeing as I have a good card here :)
eva, I'm still at work today, It's time to go home now... I'll give you the numbers tomorrow. Anyway, I don't think it would damage your card, even if it won't work - you can still modd it back to 12 pipes. But x800xt bios has problems with my system. And it doesn't increase the VGPU. MY GPU reads 1.4Volts. What's yours?
here's an example of the 16 pipe mod killing someone's X800Pro http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...threadid=38325
my GPU reads 1.392v
drivers also can make a difference with cat 4.5 official my core wouldn't budge past 553-555mhz while my ram did upto 621mhz
cat 4.6 official could do 564mhz core and cat 4.7beta my core could do 567-571mhz with stock heatsink
very nice eva2000. Max I can get with my Modded Gecube X800Pro at X800XT with clocks like 550 / 605 and a P4 EE at 4 GHZ using a Ic7 max3 as mobo is 28,8k... your score is some how magic... what am I doing wrong.
for 3dmark03 im using WinXP + cats 4.7
what would you recommend using for 2001?
I don't understand it, I didn't scrape anything when I modded to 16 pipes. I just shorted those two dots with a silver conductive ink. Our VPU's voltages pretty close. I now have 4.7beta, but my core wouldn't go higher than 540 without instability. I also don't understand how you were able to overclock that high. 621mhz memories? I thought those samsungs could only reach 500mhz. Mine could only clock 550. 560 would be unstable. Probably because it's hotter here in the Philippines. My room temperature is about 27'C, while the VPU core reaches 79'C at load. What's the room temperature there in Brisbane? Maybe I should buy an air conditioner. It's cheaper than upgrading to x800xt. =)
room temp = 22.8C here and I'm on open desktop bench system not in case :)
From what i read, some Samsung GC16 and GC20 were mislabeled so that GC16 is in fact GC20 and some GC20 are in fact GC16. I think my card's GC20 is actually GC16 like EmineM's as he has high mem clocks too :)
EmineM, not sure what ram you're using but my 3.2EE was with ram 1:1 at 247-249mhz 2-2-2-6 :)
Woohoo my highest P4 2.8C score .. feel the power! :D

ooooh... that's heavy...
actually it's very light all up.. heatsink's aluminium and 60x38mm is pretty light in itself :)
But i do have my Abit AI7 horizontally positioned anyway
