very bad for a phase change consumer. there is no longer as much (any) corporate competition. means sole market share can/will skyrocket price becuase they can. also wonder how many people had thiers on RMA. wonder if they just get thier broke unit back or if they just say sorry u get nothing... in which case u are screwed. good luck suing a bankrupt company. depends if they are just closing shop or filling chapter 'leven. in any case anyone who has bought one within the last 30 days should send it back to the reseller for repair. that way they wont be able to and will be forced to send u a money refund. sucks for the reseller but it is all about the consumer anyways... consumer controlls the market, not the seller / reseller to some degree...
how about when the new btx and new sockets for the next gen of processors.
basically mach2 users are limited in upgrade options,
mach2 will become obsolete fast!
.. the prices for vapo shouldnt sky rock.. asetek / Danfoss are very smart smart and gotta lot of money to roll with... the increase (if any) shouldnt be noticeable.. :)
Blah, My prommy will never becpome obsolete. I can use my own DIY solutions for when the next sockets come out :)
RIP nVentive
BTW, is chip-con and nventive the same company?
I thought it was OBVIOUS what I meant.... the asetek forum (your home) is quite a bit busier and has quite a bit of discussion about this matter....Quote:

Mark these words, 6/3/04 avg price for Vapo LS is $830
Come back to this post in 2 months :D
It WILL be $1000
C
I thought when Asetek said it had a "campaign price" for the LS it meant it was going to go up some time in the summer, so unless they knew about they WAY before everyone else then the price rise will not be (or at least not all of it, they may increase the rise) down to Nventiv's demise.
G
I knew about this a loooong time ago..but was under NDA.
Asetek also knew about Nventive's problems before I did.
Afaik, there will be no major price rises from Asetek.
You are welcome to come onto the Asetek support forum, as long as you abide by the rules..
In any case, the compressors that they were using would not have lasted long.
Sorry for all the current owners, but there is always the LS. It is a great deal right now...and works very well.
FT.
lol, looks like Asetek is a vulcher.

Well if anyone needs a phase change unit, talk to Pc Ice.
I dont know if you guys seen my Lanparty Tool box, phasechange unit. It was awsome. Ice came over one day and stole it from me. Came back with it the next day, now its a -100c cascade unit. Freekin awsome. You guy really need to hit up Ice if you want one. I know he is willing to build and sell. Luckily mine didnt cost me too much ( FREE ):D
:( WTF my dream is gone... bye dear nventiv
This is sad for me, seeing a company who's product I'm very pleased with go down :(
Well another day in the life of a 3DFX fan :(
`s
They renamed chip-con a few years ago into nVentive ;)Quote:

Can't stop the bashing even when the competition goes under. That's a good way to get people to come over to the Asetek camp. Swell people you all seem to be. :rolleyes:Quote:

Personally... I think nVENTIV going under will just stir up the custom market to the point of creating another competitor for Asstek. Can't wait to see who from XS or XR is involved 'cause you know someone will be. :)
Isn't it fun being a paid shill for some company?
Some people...
I wouldn't touch an Asetek unit.
I wrote Greer after I sent my order in and told him I was very unhappy about the raise in price. He's replied back about trying to cover RMA costs that they can no longer RMA to nVENTIV. He's holding my order 'til he hears back from a few people on the matter.Quote:

My reply was to basically cancel my order and I've already place an order with CrazyPC.com. I can almost understand where he is coming from but I'm still not happy about it(since I very much have liked Kit-Tronics.com in the past and would not have guessed they would stoop to this level).
At any rate... hopefully my order is cancelled with them and hopefully CrazyPC.com actually has enough of these kits to go around. :(
It is a shame when any business goes to the wall...
Im sure there are plenty of nventiv users on this forum who could provide quality support for users of this unit for some time.
RIP Nventiv..:(
As one door closes another one opens....
maybe asetek will buy out nventiv and make prommies, vapo ls will be for those with some budget, and prommies will be for those who asetek will rip off
Maybe...
Lets not turn this thread into a Astek bashing thread...they are friends of this site..
It is not there fault nventiv went bust...
Be thank full that at least one company is still around to mass produce these type of units..
People must remember, the A64 kits will mean that a Prometeia is still good for the lifespan of the A64, which is what, 5 years??
as for intel support, I assume thats gonna end officially with LGA775 soon, cause I doubt the old P4 kit will work on them.
motherboard makers always change things around for some reason.
as for Asetek...
I owned a Vapochill about a year ago.
it was a fine unit, not much compared to my prometeia, but it's certainly a fine choice, especially the LS.
thats if they don't start jacking up the price, cause $850 is still too much for something that basically is no more powerful then a $500 prometeia.
on a side note, atleast we can now know were gonna have the same vapochill LS for about the next 14 years since they probably won't change the design or anything until they absolutly have too, haha....
I know you're from Belgium, but that's V-U-L-T-U-R-EQuote:
