ch-5 250 2-2-2-5 1:1

Just got a stick of Corsair 512MB PC3200.
I bought it from a guy, believing that it was rev. 1.1.
Opened the package and crap, rev. 1.2. Damn'.
The stick was going in my son's PC anyway, so i gave it a shot on my P4C800-E, knowing that I had some problems with CH5 sticks in the past. But that was on my IC7-G. Don't know if that affects the ASUS too.

Believe it or not, but I had no problems booting at 265FSB with 5:4 divider, 2-3-2-6 timings. Ran some 3Dmarks to check it, with no probs.
Of course, this was with only 1 stick, so maybe it might be different than when using 2 sticks.
Took the HS off, and it was CH5 indeed.

Did you try higher FSB? some have the wall at 270.... And have you tryed 2-2-2-6 w/ alot of volts?

Nope, not yet.
Just plugged it in my IC7-G at 260FSB with 5:4, 2-3-2-6. Booted nicely.
Will give it 3.2V and try tighter timings.

i wal usually comes at around 255-260 fsb. i had it at 259 lol. try going to 270 5:4 and if u can post, then the wall is gone!! :slobber:

I guess that the memory chips are getting better or so, don't know. My board is the IC7-G, which I bought in july last year, so pretty old. :D
I sure know that they a lot of voltage to run at this speed.
To bad I can't test it with 2 sticks, I only have 1 :(

You're right.
I should have bought 2 sticks of those. The guy I bought it from had 2 sticks. I bought one directly but forgot the other auction.
And who knows what kind of sticks you get now, which week they're produced and stuff. I might go and try to buy another stick of PC3200, and see what it does. Can always sell it afterwards.
To bad, but to compensate, I found a nice stick of 512MB PC3500 Corsair for 95€. :)

Damn, hard to beat a deal like that. I'm not that familar with Corsair, what chips does that have?

BH5, like all PC3500 from Corsair.

PC3200 rev. 1.1 = BH6
PC3200 rev. 1.2 = CH5
PC3200LL rev. 1.1 = BH5
PC3200LL rev. 1.2 = CH5
PC3500 rev. 1.1 = BH5 (there's only 1 revision of this kind)

If that's true then I think Winbond got some serious problems in their development lines..good products should be inked out so that one may continue to profit on their excellency..so what I mean is dam, wish they would start making new so prices would drop and we could all get some of these awesome sticks for cheap $$$$..

I think the issue is, they upgraded thier fab to make .13um chips on bigger wafers with a HUGE increase in profitability...but... that meant replacing all the machinery. So going back isnt just pulling the films out of storage, they would need to reconstruct the old fab, who knows what happened to the old equipment. Companies rarely keep that stuff around, they sell it off.

But, maybe there is gold in the CH-5's, just noone has made a memory circuit/northbridge to best utilize the CH-5's yet.

Any updates on how the CH5 sticks do in the IC7-G?

hey, it's nice to see some other lucky people that got some good ch-5. Mine does 240 at 2-2-2-5 in an IC7 Max3 with 3.2V. One more mhz, and it errors in memtest. And about that 250FSB wall, i see it at anything over 250 with the 5:4 divider. Oh well, 240 1:1 isn't that bad. Oh, they're Corsair TwinX 512mb sticks running dual channel.

Nice! I've got 2x 256mb sticks of Corsair PC3200LL CH5 coming, and wasn't sure if it'll run in my IC7-G, but yours seem to run fine, even with dividers.

I assume that 300FSB 5:4 = 240Mhz ram with 2-2-2-5 timings isn't a problem with PAT enabled?

I have seen verry few CH-5 doing those timings / speeds in dual channel

for a while, thought they might be bh-5 or bh-6, until i popped the heatspreaders off and they said ch-5. i was suprised to say the least. But, no, they don't work well in the 5:4 divider. won't go over 250fsb no matter what the voltage or timings.
