The uninitiated are going to buy into whatever the hype of the week is. That's why I try to get people on forums to do their homework so they don't get duped by empty promises.
As far as AMD winning back market share, that is done primarily via the OEMs who sell 10,000 PCs for every enthusiast CPU/APU purchase. Mainstream consumers don't care if their PC has an Intel, AMD or other brand of CPU/APU. All they care is that the PC does what they need/want it to do and that the PRICE is within their comfort range. The mainstream market segment that doesn't even know who AMD is, is where the sales volume is and where AMD sales will continue to grow.
The enthusiast who does his homework and understands that AMD is currently delivering the best performance for the dollar in the laptop, desktop APU and desktop CPU segments, will be buying and enjoying Trinity laptop, Trinity desktop and Vishera desktop. Those who buy CPUs for running benches 24/7 or a legitimate software application need or those who fail to educate themselves, are likely to over-pay to use an Intel CPU - and that is their choice.
The false perceptions about AMD will continue in the enthusiasts market segment until AMD takes over the absolute highest performing CPU position because many people fail to educate themselves.
