For Christ sake, if they still are going to delay prescotts even more, Im definately getting one of these chips. First distibrutors said 6.2.2004, then 13.2.2004, 27.2.2004 and finally 11.3.2004, dunno what to believe :(

That is funny, I think they are a good bit biased, why else would he be reviewing motherboards with bioses that noone else can get?Quote:

I have seen the Northwoods own the AXP's in their benchmarks and then the A64s own the Northwoods which is accurate. They do produce fair results.
For one, how does that have anything to do with a bias?Quote:

Second, do you have a link to this?
Go look at the review of gigabyte 875 board and tell me what bios he used and what options it had in bios. Then you show me where you can get that bios. I still have the emails from him saying he used engeneering bios on that board.Quote:

So you think using a engeneering bios? which has options not available on any retail bios is not being bias? You should think about that before you hurridly reply.
Oh so you're saying Anandtech is biased toward Gigabyte?
Still don't see a bias here.
i think i want one of these processors! has anyone else got any input on the overclockability of this chip?
I like this chip alot. Much better than my 3.2 was. I am not the greatest bencher so the 3mdark could be higher with the proper tweaks. (no tweaks period to the os no volt mods to the memory or gpu or the motherboard even)

Did you get your proc yet? Tell me you are doing 4G's on air and you will make my day brother.:up:Quote:

when I've burnt it in and the AS3 has settled, I'll see how far I can take it on air with a Zalman flower. I'll be happy with 3.8 (224fsb), if I can run my ram at 1:1 2,2,2,5 :)
I'll post results here.
EDIT/ specs:
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe | P4 2.4@3GHz | 2x256 Mushkin Black Lvl 2 PC3500
Antec Truecontrol 550W | Audigy 2 | GeForce4 Ti4200 | 3Mark2001:

I just got it today! :D
SL793 Malay
D1 Stepping
The Intel site doesn't have it in it's database yet.
I got it to 220fsb on default vcore & vdimm but I got BIOS checksum error at 222  so I upped the vcore to 1.6v and vdimm to 2.85v (will do volt mod soon) and now I have it at 225fsb, 3.825Ghz.
I'm running prime95 atm, bedding in the AS3. Temps are ok, 53c peak in prime95. I'll give it a few hours and then try upping the fsb again.
I'm hoping the BIOS checksum error was just the low ram voltage, and the cpu has some more in it. It seems happy at 225 for now, and I'll be delighted if it does hit 235 (4Ghz) on air.
I'm using a Zalman 6500 AlCu + 92mm fan. The stock Intel heatsink looks really good with a solid Cu core surrounded by Al fins. I might shove it on my Ti4200 and see if it helps mu o/c. I did bench the card at 3.825Ghz and finally broke 16k :) see sig.
My 3.4C chip arrives tomorrow. I´m going to throw it straight under r404 Mach2, and see how it goes :D
Im really looking foward to see if that P4 EE package and extra smd capasitors helps to run northwood at higher speeds.
Uhh dude...you might want to watch the vcore :stick:Quote:

Why? 1.6v isn't that high, lots of people run P4s at 1.7-1.85. Is there a prob with higher clocked P4s?Quote:

I gradually upped the fsb to 230, now running sweet at 3.9Ghz. I think I'll leave it there for tonight and try for 4Ghz tomorrow :D
Even if it won't pass 230fsb, I'm well pleased with 3.9Ghz.
My ram is running 2,3,2,5 @ 460Mhz (was 2,2,2,5 up to 446Mhz)
My 3.4 hit 4.1 on an overclock the first time i tested jus to see where its goin. I havent played with it really. Was sittin at stock voltage when it hit that. Maybe i'll start overclockin proper after a while but ive jus come back from havin rma'ed quite a few parts.
So no hurry.
Some nice numbers u got there m8.....keep upp the good work ;)
I just ordered my self a P4 3,4 "vanilla" and a Asus P4C800-E Deluxe,
I´m gonna start of with everything unmodded on air...and then som voltmodds and throw it in my Mach II.
These 3,4´s seeme to OC very well.
Make sure you get ram that can handle ~480Mhz if you want 1:1 with a 4Ghz o/c. I think my BH5 should handle it, I don't really want to use 5:4 and underclock the ram.Quote:

asim,
Any chance of sharing the cpu stepping, ram & mobo specs with us? Plenty of people are interested in the details, especially when chips hit 4.1 at stock, first attempt.
Sorry thought you had a Prescott...Quote:

Man...been brainwashed by all the Prescott OCing results coming in...wrong thread.
Alright.Quote:

Its an SL793 which is 1.55v at stock.
Ive got an asus p4c800-e deluxe and 2x512mb ocz pc3500 ram. Rated 2-3-3-7.
So i had it up at 242x17 = 4.110
Usin 5:4 dividers or 320mhz in an asus bios. Everything else basically stock. Running in the low 30s and even lower.
At stock 3.4ghz i sit at 22c jus here. And it hits 31c at load. So when i overclock theres not much difference. I owe that to my scythe kamakazee, delta at 7v and the chieftec case.
Its a really nice chip.
Sweet!!!:YIPPIE:Quote:

Show me one prescott that primes at 3.8 GHz on air! under 60*C and runs "sweet" at 3.9 GHz
Top quality stuff, mate that mushkin shines at 3.2V vdimm. Grab a solder iron ;)
Got mine today :D
It Malaysian, week 43 (L343B192).
With stock cooling (+ orginal TIM), and voltages (1.52V) it runs perfectly at 3910MHz (230x17) on unmodded Asus P4C800-E DLX with terrible droop.
Im putting it under r404 modded prommy mach2 tomorrow, and adding few mods for Asus ;)
Those extra caps and P4 EE package seem to increase overclockability. Also temps are lower than my 3.2C had. With same mobo, worse heatsink and higher clocks it runs 10-12c lower temps
Yea im gettin some seriously low temps with this processor too compared to my old 2.8ghz 533 cpu.Quote:

Dunno whats up with that
Are you guys really talking about Prescotts here?
That sSpec tells me Prescott (SL7xx)...in which case 1.6v is a LOT...
I pointed that out before and the reply I got back made me think its just a Northwood...i'm confused...
Soulburner,
These are Northwoods. The Prescott 3.4 isn't released yet (I think).
Yeah, I need more vdimm. I have vcore back at default (didn't need to raise it at all) but ram won't boot at 2.75v, it needs the 2.85v minimum.Quote:

I got it to 232 stable, but I get prime95 errors at 233 in test #3. I tried upping vcore to 1.65v but it still wasn't stable so I'm leaving it at 230 for now.
Alright, i've just never seen SL7xx used on anything else before.
Yeah..this Northy 3,4:s we are talking about.
Mine is on it´s way...should have it here on Monday.....seeing your sweet numbers makes me looking forward to it even more.
this is also first time ever using an Asus board...so that shoul be an expirience it self...
