Corsair H80, checked, was not over-clamped. Went through the steps posted, removed/replaced CPU - same result.
Looks like the board will just need to go back - I'm just hoping something didn't happen to the CPU... :(

It's your CPU or settings. Got this from HQ, boot from UEFI on 0709:

We have received UD7 to test Raja... if this one craps out too, indeed it will be the CPU... Sabretooth rig refused to post here even at 100.1bclock lol... Retail CPU seems at least a week off, before we can get one...
Screenshot by Andre ? As he told about a day ago on Hwbot that only a few CPUs will do 2400+ easily... Can't imagine Intel pulling such stuff on all of those that buy or will buy high speed rams... that would be a blow towards the enthousiast crowd...
Screenshot was by Jack not Andre. Yes some CPUs can't handle it, not much you can do about that.

I'm not sure whether I should go for the Asus Rampage IV Extreme route, or go for the Rampage IV Formula (4x memory slots does turn me off quite a bit, I don't really care for it to date but it's always nice to have some headroom for the future.)
Normally I always jump on the top-of-the-line RoG boards simply because they you'll get everything there is to get, you won't miss out on anything but to be honest I haven't been using one third of the features of my current Ramapge III Extreme so why get the Rampage IV Extreme?
I'm not using it for enthusiast overclocking, I normally settle on the highest stable clock I can achieve rather easily, currently my i7-980X is running at 4.2GHz and I haven't really cared pushing it further than that because of constant hiccups and bluescreens. But my system is running 24/7, so stability is a concern as it's used as both a gaming and server system.
This time around I'm very uncertain if I should go with either the P9X79 WS, Sabertooth X79 or the Rampage IV Extreme / Formula for such a system? I want to achieve a decent 4.6 - 5.0GHz stable overclock and be able to push the system 24/7 with ease. I might hold out to Q1 2012 for the eight core Xeon processors, but which motherboard do you recommend me to go for?

This took about 3 minutes to setup including POST, Configure EFI - XMP 2400, increase BCLK, increase CPU Multi, rest is Auto, POST, enter Win7 and start testing. I would suggest not overthinking it when setting up our board. :D

System Setup:
ASUS Sabertooth X79 EFI 0709
Corsair H60
Corsair 8GB GTX7 Kit
Corsair AX850
ASUS Mars II
Corsair Force GT SSD 240GB x 2
ASUS BD Drive
Clock Challenged Intel 3960X C0
Heh, I had already forgotten about this, will throw that on and check it. Thanks! I was using OC Key btw.
Edit: much better with my fluke heh.
Same settings as above except dropped LLC to high. 1.511v load within 0.003v. 1.506v idle within 0.0004v.
Wonder what the max safe voltage for water is. My temps are still great, not over 60c.
I couldn't get 5GHz to boot into windows with 1.54v but 1.50 bios works great at 101x49. Initial load test passed.
got a R4E showing up sometime today is the 0604 bios the best to start with
might as well update it right off the bat so you dont loose your profiles when you flash ;)
A quick update to the problem:
We replaced the board today with another Sabertooth X79. The issue is gone. Bottom line, the board was malfunctioning.
New UEFI for R4E 0076B, fix cold boot issue under high CPU OC.

Raja, at post #32 I asked what the price of the board would be in India.
Any new news of the Rampage IV Formula ?
AFAIK the pricing is sopposed to be similar to the RIVE and its a little bit stupid IMO. Why should i get a RIVF if the ram price as a RIVE ....
I dont really need the LN2 stuff on the RIVE and if a RIVF is priced ~40-50$ cheaper ill take it ...
Just ordered my 3930K and 4x4 gb of RipjawZ 2133mhz.
Waiting for some news about the RIVF pricing VS the RIVE
