what a hell are you complain about :mad::shakes: x55 is good..most chip dosent do that u know u are lucky man anyway

Sarcasm?
Doubt he's being sarcastic, as I'd be happy with a X55, too. As long as 5 ghz is reached with HT on at a low voltage, then you can do a lot worse than X55...it's not like you are going to get a X58 chip without going through hundreds, anyway....
I think he was hoping to get better results than 2600k; which can already be had in this range. His point is probably that you're better off with 2600k unless better 2700ks start showing up.
Thanks for the heads up Dumo. How does vcore scale before hitting a wall, better than the 2600k or about the same?
x55 is pretty weak.
x57 or higher is where it's at Dumo is right, luckily it only took me 14 pcs to find a x57+, unlike some which have tested hundreds.
300pcs to find a 6ghz chip:eek:
passsssss
took me 14 also loud :)
thank you ebay lol
newegg was peddling me 52x, 53x all day... my highest was 53 from them.. all of them similar batch
price intel recommended was 330... whenever it drops down will be the time for me to buy some.. right now.. i think i'll pass also
i agree with Dumo less than 57x you can't do anything when benching is the prorpose
..so same crap as 2600K... that's a pity
for the record i tried about 18 pcs of 2600k and the best was 55x (the second one) :(
last 3 it tried were all duds.... max was like a 54x chip. i think latest batches are poo poo. intel's "cherry picking" for 2700K may have gobbled up all the 55x chips .
I think they have mate.
My 2600k bought last week would only do 4.4Ghz @1.38v
My 2700k bought this week can do 4.6Ghz@1.28v - fully prime and IBT maximum stable.
Heres my 5Ghz run @ 1.38v:

Nice chip zoomee, please test at what max multi (x100) it wil boot at ~ 1.55v
I gave it about 1.5v and it wudnt even boot at x53 :-(
Not sure if its me being an intel noob or my mainboard tbh

1.38 would be a decent 5G chip though what cooling are you on.
honestly guys why do you think a 2700k will be better than a 2600k ? same waffers...no changes they can do the same on 2600K as WE ALL get our 2600K above 4.5 so no big deal its just marketing
i want to see some 6 core if they hit 5Ghz easy and not burning i will get as real cores is the way to go, lazy programmers aint using HT, see brand new BF3 game...HT on game suxs, HT off lovely !!! same all with tons of apps...
cheers to all

No absolutely not, perhaps a few slightly higher clocks at best. We need a usable jump at a smaller die for a cool running six core not proof we can beat Bulldozer in all the benchmarks.
No doubt SB is the best but they jumped the grade to ensure a sweep which was certainly not required IMO. An extra 100mhz is just that and there is no fresh headroom compared to the 2600K which at the moment is the real deal.
Better yields/matured process/strained more!
All legit reason 2700ks could be using better silicon and that is way it always worked with better chips from centre of wafer (used to be peep worked for AMD on Winbeta years ago, he fixed machines that made the wafers)!
They could bin this silicon as any chip but possibly it is extra good so keeping for 2700's and rumours of a possible 2800K could happen as there is a Xeon that is 3.6GHZ and Turbo would be 4.0GHZ!
I have seen ES chips that were not to great and later batches doing better or same on lower volts (any CPU not talking today's SB)!
yeah im saying that no dif between a 2600k or 2700k i really doubt on binned-selected whatever. some ppl went thru 100 chips to get a x56 i had the luck or maybe good eye to spot the batches and jumped in and only took me 4 to get 2 x56
i dont think intel will sell us selected chips they would loose mine just like if henry ford still make the cars he did he would have been poor now lol, still some Ford A around lol
cheers

I totally agree and I too got lucky early in the Sandy lottery with two out of the first four chips reaching 55+. My original L040B208 still runs great and can do 5650 on water. The 2700s may be better but so far I am not seeing any and the multi limit is the same so at best perhaps a better low volt chip up to 5G.
Cooling setup is as follows:
Thermochill 120.3 + 3 x Scythe 1450RPM GT's
EK Supreme HF + 2 x EK FC-5850's
Liang DDC + XSPC Res
etc etc.

1.38 isn't fully stable - Passes IBT standard - but temps get too high on maximum and it only lasted a couple of minutes of prime95,
and this board is a nightmare trying to get it over 4.6Ghz! :(
