Time to bring next chapter AMD ...
How come that in the list of reviews ONLY Hardwarecanucks and Neoseeker is clocking the cpu-nb? So much ignorance...
Well, i guess there is a reason Hardwarecanucks is one of very few whitelistet reviewsites for me... (dont know neoseeker much)
Chill dude, don't you see my J/K comment?
I love overclocking AMD CPUs and putting them under cold as well as everyone here do,
I just wondering why they released this at this time, when Bulldozer is only a couple months away. If only they released this 'cherry-picked' chips earlier, it will still give me a lot of reasons to buy 'em and a lot time to actually enjoy those chips.
I dont know man, maybe marketing? But I think, in this 980 chips we will see someone 7-4-7.5 GHz chip
It's not cherry picking, it's just process improvement..
These CPU's (that is, CPU's of this clocking ability, in any useful numbers) didn't exist earlier
Hmm... makes sense,
What makes me think it just "old wafer binned into higher clockspeed" is because I don't see revision/stepping change , like the C2 to C3 one.
If this process improvement is true then, what Flank3r said could be happening, that we'll see the speed that not exist before such as 7.4Ghz++ under cold.
flanker don't be a tease, we want more...
of course, here are improvent in C3 Denebs...what I noticed about 1040 week big improvement in OC Denebs. But this chips are diferent not only in marking at heatspreader, but for voltage limits too.
flank3r you getting one? i want to get one so bad! :D but saving for BD high end rig + llano htpc & laptop right now grrrrrr
show some more screens! more info on 6ghz @ air?!!?!
FlanK3r,

You are a golden god.
Now, as to why AMD keeps making chips go faster, and why we try to keep them affordably priced is a miracle I have long pondered. Yet we do. And if any of you seriously, in day to day use, saturate your AMD Phenom II X4 CPU OC'd at 4.5GHz, well, you are a very serious power user indeed!
I do not doubt your DESIRE FOR MORE, but really, for less than $200 in an established motherboard and component infrastructure, is it really such a sin to make it a little bit...faster?
As I said before, its a TWKR for the masses. Enjoy.
Simon: Hehe :D, thank you
Diamond: No, Im still with x4 975 BE (this is not bad too :) ), but from this moment I saw x4 980 BE from OBR (CZ redactor and user) Cinebench run and superpi, I was suprised. Yes, he was a bit crue - 1.7x V at air, but still impressive (6 GHz air run superpi 1M !!!!). Think, I will need one for June LN2 action :D
