So, I guess the major issue is the actual cost of entry. In other words, you have a ton of gamers who get to play for free. That alone, must piss off a ton of "hyper capitalists." It's not just a PC issue. I couldn't believe how many Xbox 360 games are pirated weeks before release and there are industries that provide gadgets to help people hack and pirate consoles. It's all funny crap. Don't like it. Find another profession.
Regardless of the moral issues, life sucks for a ton of people, so if some individual gets to enjoy a game that he couldn't afford, good for him. Most of these developers working for these large or successful studios have no issues when it comes to supporting their families. They should be happy that they are practicing their trade and still have jobs. There are millions who cant' find a job these days across the globe and that counts more than the exaggerated millions that are lost in revenue due to piracy.
As for me, I don't even consider pirating because the majority of games aren't worth my time these days. I have infinite patience, so I don't need to play something right now. I'll gladly wait and buy a used game. I'm sure that pisses off a ton of people as well. Let's see, you want to prevent people from buying used titles as well............
