OCZ Vertex 2 - SSD settings/tweaks

@ PnoT - it depends on the game - SSDs will make a difference is some and not in others -
My theory - i think this is due to texture expansion cpu cycles sometimes getting sprinkled in between reads.
Not optimized for SSDs - no real surprise there though is there.

That's the sad truth ... when my Q6600 PC died I finally upgraded it to an i7 and upgraded from the Raptor boot drive into a Vertex 2/LE drive and can't really notice that much of a difference ... other than the fact that my Outlook and browser data files now reside on the SSD, so my Outlook and browser rage is less but other than that, not much.

I can say pretty much the same, but I would not call it disappointment though. I upgraded from 300 GB Raptor (x 2) RAID 0, and from what I have experienced this single Vertex 2 SSD performs +/- the same in various areas. For instance, unzipping/unraring archives and game load from what I have tested is just a slightly faster on SSD than with that raptor raid 0. Then again vertex 2 wins hands down in app load time, OS boot and heat/power consumption/noise department and with few games I have already experienced vaster load improvement over raptor raid.

This is not true. The engineering blog says this, but in reality Windows 7 does use both Superfetch and the Prefetcher. They are not disabled, and rightfully so. You should have them enabled. There is almost no reason to disable them.

Hi Soulburner,
When I ran the new Intel Toolbox it did indeed show that Superfetch had not been disabled, however the Toolbox identified that and set it to disabled when I ran the optimiser.

Which SSD is better and why, had it in RAID OCZ Agility 2 Extended 120GB or OCZ Vertex 2 Extended 120GB?
