You know that Dave only runs P3's. :ROTF: :sofa:

My production is way down, but I'm happy to do what I can. Also - is there any way of just merging all of my results / points into his account? I'm not top 10 anymore - but this would get him up there a ways.
No. Remember this is a scientific project(s) with the potential to do great good. All results must be accounted for and traceable from their original creation, to distribution, to the specific cruncher that does them and all the back to the results server. For auditing purposes every detail of a work unit's life must be accounted for and unaltered, including the credit awarded for it.
IBM is on the ball today.
I just heard back from Bill Bovermann and he gave me what he called a "weak" key?
I remember somnething about this when 123bob was moving machines to Scotts(Serlv) account when he had his surgery.
I just emailed 123bob to refresh me on what to do with this.
Back to you all when I get the info from Bob
BTW: Spoke with serlv yesterday and he sounds 1000%.
Out walking to drop a few pounds and sounds like his old self!
I can not tell you how much that means to me.
One of the better people you'll ever meet.
See if we can also access Philosophy's account and contribute some points in his memory. He was less than 3,000 points away from a million before his tragic death. Although it's great that we have so many members over a million points, it makes me sad whenever I see his total stuck at 997,000.
i think a weak key lets you do work on an account but not allow access to account settings and such
This seems to show what to do: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Weak_account_key
*pours one out*
I'd really like to see Jon's account get some serious pie for a while.
I found where to put the weak key. Just need Dave to send it.
Ok, got the locations to put it for linux, installed from either the WCG or Berkley downloads as well as the Ubuntu repository version. Just need the key ... Dave?
<bump>
This thread is NOT dropping off the page.
I have my HTPC in a better case now and have been planning on putting it's Phenom 9600BE back in the fight. Please include me in the PM list. It's not a powerhouse (2.1Ghz @ 1.00v) but it will carry on his fight since I don't care if the work is done under my name, as long as it's done.
Sorry guys, a hectic two days here.
I have the key.
PM me if you want it.
done
Could somebody please explain where (which directory) to create this .xml file or something. I read the link supplied by D_A but, I'm not sure what to do with it.
I can code, but for machine tools, not pc's.
Put the account file in the BOINC data directory (that varies by operating system)
Alternatively detach from your current account and attach using the weak key.
I did it from the command line (in linux) using: boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org <Jon's key>
For those who installed from Berkley you need to have the full path to the boinccmd binary, if from the repositories, that line will do. In Windows ... I don't know.
I'm on windows.
Is the file name supposed to be "account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml"?
I'm off to bed so I won't PM now, but please send the key
thanks man
No problem. ;)
