There is no manual TRIM support yet.

It doesn't mean that they are liars. They just got confused. Making mistakes is human. And that isn't a good test you just proposed. SATA TRIM and manual TRIM are entirely different things. The new drivers are passing the SATA TRIM command through, allowing the SATA TRIM to work on raid0 arrays. It does not, however, allow manual TRIM to be used.
ok i dont get how to install the driver ????
win 7 pro
We need to wait for a new version of intel toolbox to manually trim raid.
Anyhow these do trim i went from
514 read to 561 read
171 write 174 write
on 2 Intel X25-M 80 GB SSD Raid-0
Just went and got a 3rd drive for even more speed and space
3 Intel X25-M 80 GB SSD Raid-0

The installation of only the driver and not the "all os install package" is indeed very confusing . i also went for the all os install package , because the readme of only the drivers only mention on how to install the install package , not the driver only package .
anyway ,

As you can see sequential writes suffer a lot and are not coming close to 2x100MB which is the maximum for these drivers .
Dudes, do I need also latest firmware for my X25-M 80GB Gen2 drives?
As I have old 2CV102G9 firmwares in.
And is it safe to update it?
like this put controller (ICH10R) to IDE mode from raid -> boot from Intel update CD -> flash both drives -> boot -> raid back on -> and windows and everything will still work?
yes you need latest firmware .
update as you said .
You should have had trim for a long time now, for single SSDs. Windows 7 supports trim, and if your SSD supports it, you should already have trim.
The problem has been for raid arrays. The raid controller never passed the trim command from windows to the SSDs. With this new driver it is supposed to do that.
So again, you should already have had trim for a single SSD if your SSD supports trim.

Flashed drives and installed that software.
I got a statement from Intel...
“Intel® RST 9.6 supports TRIM in AHCI and pass through modes for RAID. A bug has been submitted to change the string that indicates TRIM is supported on RAID volumes (0,1,5,10). Intel is continuing to investigate the ability of providing TRIM support for all RAID volumes in a future release”
Yup they had a wording issue in the help file...we all got excited over nothing.
still a fast driver though and worth using
This sucks no trim, but i did get quite a boost with this new driver.
Is it even possible to trim through the intel controllers now or do we need a whole new controller for raid?
Thats what i figured.
I actually got a 160 first but decided id rather have more speed and went with 2 80gb...and now 3.
Im still new to the whole SSD and researched allot before doing so and read nothing negative on intel in raid so i went for it, so far so good no lose in performance but its only been about 4 weeks on 2 drives and i just got my 3rd couple days ago so well see
The thing is , after i have installed these drivers i see my cpu spyking when idle for some time along with disk activity .
It must be doing something ?
And I just bought me 2xIntel X25-m 80GB to use in RAID0
Well, Intel chipset will probably get trim support soon ..
On the ocztechnologyforum.com I found some discussions regarding the tool FreeSpaceCleaner aka AS-Cleaner. Is this a tool that can be used for manual cleaning of SSD's in RAID0 setup? Also for the Intel X25-M?
FreeSpaceCleaner seems to destroy performance on Intel SSDs. Just use your SSDs normally, and stop worrying about degradation so much. I've yet to see any degradation on my array after a few weeks of intensive use. It might come later, but Intel is working on a driver with Trim, so we'll be able to clean our arrays soon enough
eh, i think i'll get a 2nd x25-m anyway. if only because 80gb is kinda low, even for an OS drive
