This is Fry's combo from a few weeks ago i5 661 and Biostar TH55B. This is in an enclosed case with just an old Big Typhoon for cooling. Also using the on board IGP, is anyone else? Just a quick linx pass, once I get the 1156 bracket for the TRUE I'll stress it more.

well i finally got past 235 bclk.i had to raise my cas to 10
i think my ram were at its limit at cl9.i mean they are 1600
cl9's and ive got them to 1880 cl9.there's not much loss in
performance by going to 10 and this speed.

for those that also have the Biostar TH55B, can you also please check the quality of the voltage regulations? here's how: keep the voltages in your BIOS the same, but change the CPU multiplier. if you increase the multiplier, the vcore shown in cpuz should increase, and if you decrease the multiplier, the voltages should drop too. much appreciated if you can verify this and post back in here, thanks!

The gigabyte H55M-UD2H is an awesome board.have to say,the board is a great
little overclocker.it's just as fun to play with as my EP45-UD3P,if i had better ram
my H55 OCing adventure would have so many possibilities.right now it's the only
thing holding back.i think i could even get up to 250bclk with decent low cas ram.
i havent even explored the x22 multiplier on my i3-530 yet,having too much fun at
lower multi's and higher bclk's.the board is very consistent and reliable so far.
and as the bclk keeps going higher the possible combinations of OC's get better.
the one thing i found boring with my i7-920 setup was the bclk wall of 222.it really
put a limit on the OCing fun:(
I raised the multiplier from 17 to 19 at 238bclk and got this.

Here you go. It definitely drops the voltage with the multi, I couldn't even boot with the same settings until I went all the way down to 20. Don't know why it does this. :confused: Also, tried to run 200 bclk with no luck. Only tried for a little while, but it would never make it to windows.Quote:

well from my own experience of using 3 s1156, each has their own weakness and strengths. bios are still buggy in different ways. i tried clocking on a gigabyte P55M-UD4 and this mobo is really fussy and needs a lot of tweaking. surprisingly, the biostar H55 i have clocked the same, except with almost no tuning except for setting a few voltages. only problem is a few memory multiplier that's still buggy and the vcore drop as you change the CPU multiplier (mentioned in my post above). since you mentioned "cheapest" board, with highest clock, i'd probably recommend the $90 biostar TH55/B. 4.6ghz is pretty easy, so just go with whatever's the cheapest.Quote:

one of the cheaper boards like mine 240bclk.but totally disagree about the memory.i skimped on the memory
and it just not worth it.GET THE BEST memory you can afford,BECAUSE of the sucky memory performance,you
will want to crank it up to compensate for this.DDR3-2200 cl7 or cl8 ram is the way to go.thats what i've got

I was at 1.3 vtt, but I think the problem is the on board video. I change the setting to be below 900, but still no go. At below 200 bclk I have had the video over 1000 without issue.Quote:

I have been tweaking a i3-530 that I got for 99 bucks at Micro Center.
I have been testing it with a ASUS P7P55D Deluxe, updated to the latest bios.
So far 4Ghz has been a cakewalk.

I was having a hard time figuring out why the ram would not run cas 7 even though the bios said it was. Then I seen that older CPU-Z was having issues showing the proper cas. So far it is running cas 7 at 1520mhz.
Up to 4.19 ghz stable, voltage up to 1.28. You can't beat the load temps of 52c. That is on air with a Xigmatek 3 pipe cooler.
