Try this:

20 x 200 1.30 vcore, 1.30 vtt, 1.64 vdram, every other voltage setting left on auto or the first setting. Leave EIST enabled.

Set the 7-7-7-20-1T timings manually. Also set the tRFC to 60 (7-7-7-20-x-60-x-x-x-x-x-x in the settings). Make sure the target memory speed says 1600mhz and that the UCLK multi is set to 16x (3200)

Disable cpu and pci-e spread spectrum.

Set IOH and CPU skews to normal.

Leave loadline calibration enabled.

Run linx 772MB memory for 20 passes, or hyperpi32M 8 intances, and keep and eye on it and tell us exactly when and how it fails, or if it passes.

Do you have HT enabled on those settings ? I am only able to get 3.99 GHZ (21x190) borderline stable using Vcore 1.3v, QPI 1.25v, VDimm 1.66v here with all eight threads running - borderline meaning Prime95 blend & smallFFT will run for several hours before an error or crash. I haven't tried to optimize the overclock with HT off, but did notice that heats drops rather dramatically with only four threads running... probably would be another 200mHz on the overclock with HT off.

My i7-920 doesn't seem to be a great batch (D0, #3923A766). I can get bclk up to 220 with only 1.20625 on QPI/Dram using a low multiplier, but CPU needs massive increase in Vcore above 3.9Ghz to stay stable with Prime95 small FFT. I would have bought a few 920's and keep the best except plan is to upgrade to a Gulftown 32nm in the next couple months.

I have a pretty good early batch D0. Doesn't need much adjustment in the BIOS to get it running top speed. Basically, after owning 4 C0/C1 processors and now two D0 processors and three X58 motherboards, I'm pretty much convinced that its all about winning the cpu lottery.

Generally speaking thats the way these processors work. They hit a big wall really quickly and there's nothing you can really do except pump vcore or give up and get a new cpu. My cpu, as good as it is, only needs 1.272v for 21 x 200 but in my early testing needs at least 1.320 for 21 x 205. So my wall is just a little higher than most, but its still there for sure. 21 x 210 is probably gonna be 1.4v. We're talking .13v for 200 mhz!

Those settings worked great I ran both Hyperpi32m and linx at 768mb with out issue. I am going to try linx at higher settings. Thank you very much BlackDragon24

Your welcome. You will probably find you can dial down the voltages a little. Mine only needs about 1.25vcore, 1.25 qpi, and 1.6 vdimm for those settings. Hyperpi32M 8 instance seems to be the best test for qpi and vdimm for me. while Linx max memory and prime95 blend usually need a couple more notches on the vcore then hyperpi 32M. YMMV.

there in turbov all the the others are set to auto changed vcore to 1.35625 passed IBT 20 passes in standard level

Waterblocks for the board, according to the compatibility chart on EK's website. The frontpage says a full board block is in the works, but these look relatively new so I'm guessing this is it:

The nb/sb block as been pysically verified to work whereas the mosfet blocks have been "visually inspected." Seems like a lot of blocks and fittings to cool down a motherboard that already runs pretty damn cool.

Thanks. I finally got 21x191 (HT on) stable with Prime95 small FFT & blend tests running eight threads. This required 1.30625 Vcore. Other stress tests would complete on Vcore 1.3v but Prime95 would eventually fail. My "wall" is definitely in the 3.9-4GHz range, probably typical for the newer batches of i7-920. Pretty sure 4.2Ghz is possible with HT off, as running only four threads in Prime95 dramatically drops the core temps and Vcore requirement: same 21x191 overclock with HT off only needs Vcore 1.25625 !

Guess my chip has a better "uncore" than core, I've been dropping QPI/Dram with Prime95 blend test running, down to 1.2375v and still no errors.

I've read the 20x multiplier was problematic so have avoided it, but will definitely give your settings a try. Maybe with the P6X58D it works just fine. With bclk of 191 my DDR3-1600 is slightly underclocked, but not enough to tighten timings to 7-7-7-7; 20x200 would run it at rated speed.

its on ss phase, anything past 225 i have to set the qpi data rate to slow mode. is that the max of the chip and mobo ? i can do 3d benches at 225X21 4725Mhz at just 1.44v qpi 1.4v and ioh 1.3v so isk if at this mobos max or something 1st time ocing a i7 ;)

I think the CPU is at its limits but thats like 80% overclock. We need the 6 core 32nm for bigger numbers i think.
