3d mark is a linear scale, but some things arnt. so say that u get a scoring method that was (cpu^2)*(gpu^2)/cpu*gpu. so if u had a cpu score of 2 then a gpu of 2 then u would have a score of 4 but if u had 2 for cpu and 4 for gpu then u would have a score of 16. and frame smoothing and target fps limmit the card so if its set up wrong it wont be the full potential of the gpu, UT3 games have this problem
