i dont have any issues with my board
Glad to hear:) it's just that people have been b1tching here saying the BIOS is not up to spec yet etc.. One person even said gigabyte is weak with there BIOS support. I originally Purchased Gigabyte cause I was under the impression there a solid company with good support.
It's my first time owning a board from this company, as I am used to ASUS and MSI.
Thank you guys for dispelling rumors, as well as easing my worries.
you should be making your own opinions rather than let someone else make them for you imo
I agree. It's just since I am still finishing off the final customizations on my pc, I have not had really any time to test the board out throughly.
I have an important question for all OWNERS of this boards. In the Manual on page 25, it suggests using slots 1 & 2 for 2 sticks of DDR, this is correct. Then they go on to to say "to use slots 3 & 4 for 1600+ speeds on 2 sticks of DDR", is this an error in the manual. Are they trying to say that 1600+ speeds are not achievable using more than 2 DIMMs and if you want to achieve those speeds you must use slots 3 and 4 only?
The prefereed slots are rear slots for ocing. Preety sure the cpu's actually publically only support 4x dimms at 1333, that said they are stating what they are told to state via AMD's spec.
They say stuff to cover there hiney's more so for users using non c3 cpu's that had an errata that was adressed in c3 rev.
Hands are tied atm, not much I can do to help, can't run AOD from bios, can't boot to OS with no hard drives....sorry.
I am looking at this board for my upgrade from my M3A to this mobo or Crosshair III.
Looking at the supported memory list it shows a handful at 1600 and up, but notes downgraded to 1666. Does this mean it won't OC to the noted number on the sticks given the right amount of juice?
Any opinions on the two boards too? USB 3.0 on this sounds nice, but will I enjoy that feature?
Well I pulled the trigger and ordered this one today and should get next week. Coming from the Asus M3A will I am sure take some getting used to.
Are there any guides out there for OCing on Gigabyte boards?
With a 940BE?
You need a new CPU to run this board!
Good layout...and clocks good also!!!
no f3 bios yet to address AOD with F2. I'm getting unimpressed.
how to get AOD work with f2 bios ? With my OLD ud5p i managed to run 6350 mhz 3dmark 06 - some old runs

edit: my GTR memorys wont OC on this FXTA :S with fxt-ud5p it was fine.
edit2: can someone help me ? :D
Hmmm no problem with GTS, maybe you crammed to much volts into your GTR's and they are weak now?

Same issue with Overdrive here on XP, it starts no problem; but only reads out ram settings; not a single voltage; can't change any voltages and only CPU multi is available... luckily there's ET6... will try other OSses soon
CSX Diablos are a pain in the butt on this board... requires far too much voltage (2.35)to be bench stable (doing 1980Mhz on the REX with C7 at 2.1volts lol)... testing GTX2's now, far more stress on the IMC... have to drop NB speeds under air... MSI GD70 is a tad more stable with slightly lower voltages...
Any tips for the Corsairs Chew ?
Hmmm well for me I found c3 to be a tad more sens to ram voltage......
2.3v for ram?
heh a little overboard.
Max I have ever needed is 2.15 with proper tuning.......d9's not to great for 3d, drop to 7-7-7 1800 they will pass 3d fine, also 7-6-6 or 7-6-5
leeghoofd, without directly just planting my bench settings on the net ( which won't happen ) elpida likes to be driven weak.
I'm aware of the AOD issues, will see if I can speed them up on fixing it, I already made them aware that BE memory profiles are not working, likely related issue.
Thx for the tip, complete AMD n00b here ram wise... Till now Giga outperforms the MSI for max ram clocks with the GTX2's... will need to dig in further....
Last issue I had a few times was after a overclock recovery it kept the 10X multi no matter what I set in the bios for the NB speed... back into the bios change the value to one higher and lower and all is okay then... you going via Raymond Chew for bios tech talk ?
Not impressed at the length of time it is taking for Gigabyte to release BIOS update. FFS this is there Top end AM3 board you would think a little support would be in order. I took a risk when purchasing from this compnay as I was going to get the Tried and tested MSI GD70. Coming from using MSI for years(good bios Support) I expected more from this Company. Other than lack of updates, the Board is feature rich+Sound and allows me to overclock with great stability and temps.
As it stands right now I would Probably Buy an MSI next time. Not that this is a bad board, far from it. It's just I tend to fancy manufactures that are more involved/engaged in there products. The so called 3rd party Gigabyte support forum forgot the url is a far cry from what MSI had.
Hopefully my perception on this matter might change in the future if Gigabyte actually bothers to expel more effort into the support of this board. I am also hoping they will be able to fix some other serious Issues that are not present in the MSI and ASUS AM3 board. Go read my post about Gigabyte Boards and MS-AHCI drivers.
waiting for new bios. I hope ther is better memory compapility with new bios and AOD bug is fixed.
edit: I tryd to run some super pi 32m with 900 mhz 7-6-6-18 Diablo gtr 2.15v and it runs fine ! But 3d wont even run @ 820 mhz WTF??! :S
i dont get memory 3d stable, stock is fine, but little OC and 3d wont run stable.
