I bought 2 x 8ft (16ft) of tubing from Lowes for $5. The garage is a little colder tonight and my tubing is getting a little mist on them.
So do some prep work before going to cold. I decided to pull the water off and go back to air till I can get stuff to prep my board, and get the lines wrapped.
I don't think I'll get as cold as Equinox, but hope to get some better clocks.

fans ar 4x180mm and each one runs at about 800rpm they are connected to a molex so I cant get a fan reading.

You guys are posting up some good numbers. :up: I have a new 965-C3 (from NewEgg) installed in a Crosshair III but I’m still working on the cooling system at the moment. I will use the water cooled by the wind in hopes of controlling the fire of this Dragon, just water cooling without ice or a chiller, just a radiator with a fan pulling the air. Now if I can get some subfreezing temperatures to help this cooling system but it doesn’t look good for the near future?:( I hope this challenge will be running for a while? :)

THanks equinox1, I probably would've never thought of insulating for water. How cold is your water loop? I was too tired last night to do all the cutting. I'll start tonight. Thanks again for the warning. :)

Got my 965 C3 today... To bad it clocks like a C2 compaired to shadow_419 ,crazydiamond and my temps are beter :( , Its about 100-200mhz beter than my 940BE. If you see a 965 C3 with stepping 0942FPMW stay away from it or run like hell!. I wanted to get some great scores in this thread but its not worth to give it coldair becuse it clocks to bad on normal air..sad but true. It seens that my luck with cpus/memmorys have runed out.

I have the same stepping, just installed last night and played with it briefly. I'll make the best of it, but so far it needs more volts than most (as I've posted in the c3 result thread). To stay on topic, I will update this post in line with 64nomis request when I have more time.

So far:
3.7@1.4
3.8@1.4125
bumped to 1.45 and not yet stable at 3.9

It's still better than my (only two month old) 550be!

im waiting, im waitng for C3, i have to time only this 2 new toys :) (first is Seasonic 650W HT-F3, hope, it help me to higher OC a bit)

Its all luck of the draw. My 940 wasnt nearly as good as most, but it was fun to play with!

I can agree with that. It would be less fun if they were all easy! Ummm. :confused:

BTW, couldn't make 3.9 work with 1.4875, but cpunb was still 2800. I'm backing off to 2640 and making another run at it.

whats the voltage on the NB?? Also whats the voltage showing in windows for the cpu??

I would suggest leaving the NB and HT alone, set the cpu to stock voltage and raise the multi to see how far you get then start raising the voltage on the cpu to 1.45v and push again. Dont raise the nb first then try to get the cpu stable.

Keep playing with it man, it's nothing new for Phenoms to be a little finiky....
I played with mine tonight, had it really cold in here with low water temps and cranked the V's pretty high with no luck.
Then I lowered the voltage and got better results! Take it slow and work with it, unless you had a truely GOLDEN 940 I find it hard to believe your C3 won't be a better chip!...

I'm probably not Xtreme enough, but 4.02 @ 1.44v with 2400 on the IMC @ 1.2v is a pretty sweet chip in my book!

Like a woman, sometimes Phenoms need a gentle touch to find out what makes them happy... :D

I have no doubt there's more in this chip, I just need to figure out what knobs to turn to make it happy... :yepp:

Keep playing with it and I'm pretty sure you'll be pleasently surprised!

4.02 with 1.44 stable Dave? This is great. What change it with 1.5V? 4.1 GHz possible for u?

More i play with it i get more sad...and also did it "for sale" yesterday i think i got about 10 pm asking if i sold it becuse it clocks bad like the one they got. Looks like many in Sweden got 0942FPMW and they all clocks bad some have 965 C2 that clocks same or beter.

Yes its a lucky draw But....this is sad numbers...

My old chips 2x 940BE 0850 both did about 4060-4080mhz super pi1m max in summer temp. My 965 C3 do max about 4200mhz Super pi1m winter temp(improvement with 120-140mhz)
My best 940BE did 3970mhz in 3dmark2006 my 965 C3 Fail @ 4150mhz but can run it @ 4100mhz(improvement about 130mhz)

Stock is 940BE 3.0ghz and 965BE 3.4ghz and the 965 have also never stepping C3 but still it only can make about 150mhz more clocks than 940BE?

Edit : Random crash @ 4.1ghz after 3dmark2006 and 20 min.


One good thing in all this sad news..... the Amd Overdrive 3.1 works great now!

It's Cinebench stable FlanK3r... I always use CB for a rough judge of stability, it's quick and it's always a good sign if it passes! :p:

I'm still working on it, but my chip doesn't seem to like high V's at all. I may very well be able to get 4.1, but I'm not sure about 1.5v's... ;)

BTW: I haven't even started pushing Mem or IMC yet.
