talk about shooting yourself in the foot .....spread the word of the petition lads ....we'll fight em on the beaches !!
The only petition that matters is the decision to buy the game or not. IW won't be hurt as long as the game is good and people want to play it.
@Decami: copied your sig in some spanish forums :D
You know, this is sad. I deffinitely wanted to play MW2 multiplayer...but now I wouldn't even buy it. Nowdays, you buy a computer game because:
a) Its a master piece
b) It lasts (nearly) forever.
An RPG can last an insane number of hours, so I would buy one (if good). An RTS...well, if the MP makes it worth it, deffinitely (I have WIC and COH and they are great). What about FPS? Oh men, here we are talking about HL3 (or EP3 of however you call it) which I would buy whatever happens...but paying for not having full access to MP in a COD? Jesus, they went mad. A computer game has been always distinguished from the console ports because the community itself adapts the game to its needs. You name it, you have it. Everything! That's your incentive to buy an original game: you will have hundreds if not thousands of hours of fun, so its a well worth investing. But having to pay for a sucky SP (cods have never been brilliant single player wise) to have a console (capped) MP? Don't count on me, I will try something else...
I would even pay like $30 a year in order to have all the complete pc stuff rather than not paying nothing a year and get this crap...they went mad, I bet this game will be torrented like hell as there is no incentive to buy an original game if it brings you 10 hours of play, multiplayer is what makes you buy a game.
I have bought every COD game ever since the release of COD1. I cancelled my pre-order.
Does anyone know if the public matches will be P2P or hosted by IW?
losing dedicated servers is one thing but being dumbed down to the console level is a whole new wave of stupid. my favorite part of COD on PC was the fact that online you could have your 64 player games compared to your 16 player games. i will not play a COD game online with less then 25 people in it. it just moves to slow, i have seen my buddies play online on their PS3's and Xbox's and it just looks plain boring because there is nobody in the match.
good thing i did not pre order this game.:(
Funny... to me Modern Warfare was like Halo... Good game but nothing special. Like other people said i am actually waiting for Bad Company 2. IW might be a good game developer but DICE is THE FPS developer today.
Activision and IW have gotten carried away. Buy another game this Christmas let them feel the power of your wallets!
Registering to play online is fine, not having more than 16 players is like watching the grass grow in a retirement home.
Is the max player count confirmed? On the Xbox its normally 12 people with an other gamemode setting the max number to 18.
18 still isn't too many.
Waiting for Battlefield 3, huh?
Bad Company 2 is the next PC Battlefield title (if you ignore 1943) and it suddenly got a whole lot more attractive.
Steam is great. But the match making is def a game killer, its what killed L4D
I liked how CoD4 worked online. I'm still going to buy this game for single player but i wont play multiplayer in MW2 due this change, i loved 50+ player online games.
There is 1 positive effect of this, cracked private servers wont exist anymore in MW2
Wow, i was on the fence...especially since they announced the 60$ price tag.
Now i'm not going to buy it. And all my friends who WERE going to buy it have already canceled their preorder. What a joke.
Its depressing...nothing good has come to the pc industry in 3 years.
I guess I don't understand what's going on here. What are dedicated servers?
i for one will no longer be buying it - this has been going on a long time now....i actually have cut down on gaming considerably the past couple years because so many companies were changing gamings direction for the worst - this is just one more step in the long run that will eventual make my once loved passion "mainstream'd" into ruin. what possible good reason can a company have to tell me i cant setup the game exactly how i would like it. seriously.

Servers hosted by players or clans that let them put the map rotation of their choice, the mode they want, the amount of player they desire, etc. It's a server that lets them control their server and modify the settings
And I must say I was eager for this game and lost all my anticipation in one shot. GJ IW, you ruined what was supposed to be an epic game for PC gamers and you just screwed us up. I don't care about Steam, I buy all my games there, but the dedicated servers is what made me change my mind about IW. I thought Activision wouldn't corrupt them, and it seems they did! :shakes:
Well I never found any value in the CoD franchise... it never compared to the gameplay offered from the Battlefield series. 1943 was delayed for the PC because they wanted the PC version to have 64 players, while the Xbox version had less.
Battlefield 3 is coming.. I'll wait. Until then, BF 2142 is still the best FPS game out there. Operation Flashpoint and ARMA are still having a lot of problems.
Battlefield 2142 is awful, idk how you like it
Battlefield 2 is way better.
lol why do people hate steam.. it actually works lols
